Ok, I work at a good size Walmart SuperCenter. We had a large Kmart in town and they closed down. Even before I worked at walmart, I would prefer Target any day over Kmart. They would "remodel" that store like every freakin year but they made it crappier everytime. The floors were 10 different shades of yellow and frankly many of the clothes sucked. Ceiling tiles were different colors from a leaking room (too cheap to replace these?). I did not like that store. It used to be really cool when I was like 5 or 6. For reference I don't buy clothes at Walmart because they suck too but not as bad as Kmarts did.

Kmart reminds me of the old ghetto Walmarts that walmart is closing down and building SuperCenters down the road from them. Also, we don't have a McDonald's at our store so we do carry the Icee's and they are awesome. Some of the people Walmart has are just as much of champions as Kmart had hired.

the one around here is really ghetto and they have horrible customer service. we're never going there again. the walmart around here is well lit, has good customer service, keeps a good stock and the lines are always short. not too crowded either.

KMart is awesome. I was born there... at least that's what my brother and sister said... I was a bluelight special and my so-called Mom bought me. :D

I always try to avoid KMart. Almost without exception, every KMart store that I've been in has been a huge mess -- the phrase "pig sty" comes to mind. Merchandise on the floors, on the wrong shelves, etc etc. Shopping carts full of items waiting to be stocked on the shelves that have been abandoned by workers right in the middle of aisles, etc. Yecch.

Target is much better. Heck, even WalMart and Shopko are better.

I prefer Walmart..but Kmart is closer here...its good for picking up small things for the home like clothes hangers...mirrors...just everyday stuff....pretty good for automotive stuff such as oil and filters too. Pretty much has everythign u need.

I've never been to Walmart, the only one I know of is like 20 minutes away.

Target is about 15 minutes away.

Kmart is about 5 minutes away, so when I'm looking for something cheap, that's where I go.

BTW-my wife worked at Kmart about three years ago and quit when they wouldn't give her $8/hr. Best thing that ever happened to her because now she's starting to make some real money.

My store....let's see....I've worked there for a year and a half now. Before working at kmart, i could never see myself shopping there if my life depended on it. My mom bought shoes from there when i was younger and i absolutely HATED it (not from *MY* kmart, but one closer). I remember kmart as a kid being dirty and run down....but the slurpees and sub sandwhiches were awesome!!! So my store...the lighting is really good...not dim like some older stores. The store is about 25 years old and we had our pantry remodel last june/july. The associates are all amazing (and for awhile, were the only thing keeping me from looking at another job). Most of the associates are friends that i'd trust with my life, and the others are now close friends that i hang out with on a regular basis.

You're absolutely right about the tiling...although not apparent in my store, i've seen some NASTY floors in kmarts around. Luckily, we've been blessed in upkeeping and we're fairly current with the times. For the last six weeks, i've been working at another kmart 6 miles up....i've met a lot of new people...made new friendships....had lots of fun doing new tasks that i wouldn't normally do at my store....but all in all, i wouldn't trade going to any other kmart but mine. The store manager is awesome and his assistants are all pretty fair and easy to talk/deal with.

I dunno what else to say...Kmart has gone through some serious changes...and i'm one of the few people that can actually say i helped build the kmart of the future...sporting the new green and grey color scheme. I hope the company stays in business; it's a great place to work, shop, and make friends.

I have found k-mart to have specials on some things that Wal-Mart doesn't even have at a decent price. Several of the stores around here closed due to the Chapter 11 bankruptcy so it is a hassle to shop there now.

and i've gone to two walmarts before. Personally, i didn't like them. They bulk out merchandise just like they do at sam's club. I like sam's club a lot...but if i wanted to see a mirror image of it, i would have shopped at sam's in the first place. Maybe it's my pro-kmart, anti-walmart attitude, but my family won't shop at walmart.

I've gotten a few good deals over the years from there. I tend to only shop once or twice a year there - The last time i went, was on the Thanksgiving Day Sale last year..snagged 2 of the apex ad1500 for $69 a piece. They made excellent cheap xmas gifts for family members.
