I can't believe how my friend swears by it, he thinks it is God's give to computers. I say they are gimicks and bs, but I can't convince him otherwise. Wut do u think?

Makes my downloads faster...but if you know a registry hack or similar trick that enables multithreaded downloads in Win2k by default then I'm game.

I think it works better with broadband than with modem (the faster it is, the better it works.)

It does make my downloads faster but only by 10kb/sec at most on my broadband connection. Which really doesn't matter since my d/l speeds are 500kb/sec. It also has SpyWare in it, so you need Ad-Aware to remove the spyware.

On my cable connection, DAP makes a big difference about half the time. Sometimes it is much faster, sometimes it is not... But I like it most because you could line up a queue of things to download. Say you are downloading a set of 50 .RAR files, you can just click on all 50 of them real quick, and they will get downloaded. Not using DAP, you would have to click on a couple, wait for them to finish, click on a couple more, wait...

God's gift to computers, no but very useful on many sites with a fast broadband connection.

I dont know about the other download programs but DAP makes a HUGE difference and is definitely not a gimmick. I used it on my college ethernet, used the highest settings they have, and regularly d/l files at about 1 MB/s. I thought it was a gimmick too but I guess downloads are limited by their server and having many multiple connections at the server speeds it up significantly. I would guess I got 3-4 times faster d/ls with DAP.

DAP is ok I use it now and then, it helps with speed downloads(still on 56k here )and being free also helps, best feature is the "resume" if you want to download something big in stages.

i use it pretty much just for the pause / resume feature. It does make a noticable difference with broadband connections.
