I've never really understood the obsession with camping in the first place. Seems everyone around here in the south is all gung-ho on camping and "getting away from it all." What exactly is so bad that you have the need to get away from it?

Maybe it's just because I'm a technophile .

Some people fail at life so they try to pretend their failures don't exist

Sometimes a change of scenery is nice. It's nice to wake up in a different place every once in a while. Even little things like cooking food seem more interesting when it's done a different way. Cooking on a wood fire is a lot different than cooking with gas or electricity.

You're into gadgets that you use to entertain yourself at home, I'm the same way, but my gadgets are all pocket sized and entertain me in remote outdoor locations.

my kids and i like to hike and see new places. sometimes our trips are to new cities, sometimes its out in the wilderness. we always pick a place that has something to see, like indian ruins, nat'l monuments or whatever. sometimes we just go to the lake and play in the water. the lake they like the best is roosevelt lake, it has nice camping spots, bathrooms with showers and a playground. also, theres a nice dock area with stores and stuff to do as well. sometimes its a recharge to go do something different than your normal routine.

Never really been since I was a kid, doesn't really appeal to me. I am definitely a backpacker at heart, did the TRT last summer as well as lots of little trips. I live in a '73 Airstream trailer so I guess I technically "caravann" every day.
