I'm fairly neutral about their products. On the positive they seem to have a really good build quality but their software asks for a lot of sacrifices.
As a company they really act like a bunch of arseholes. Yes companies have been bickering for years but Apple really takes it to the next level.
i have a lot of respect for Steve Wozniack and Steve Jobs
my first computer was an Apple II
I don't like the premium price (Apple Tax) they charge for stuff I can get cheaper from other companies http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Apple+Tax
I do not currently own any Apple products
I don't understand why people worship Steve Jobs so much. All he does is take credit for other people's work. Steve Wozniak created the PC, and Steve Jobs took full credit for it. Then, software engineers at Apple created the iPhone, and he took full credit for that. I don't see where Jobs comes in as the genius. He's a good marketer, but other than that, I don't understand the hype around him.
the dont make a single product that i feel is worth my money
other then pushing the PC into the home back in the early 80s, nothing they have ever made has changed my life or the way i use computers.
I'm not really any to "hating" any tech companies, so sure I like things about them. I also like things about Microsoft, Google, etc. They all have products that intrigue me. I have windows laptops, an Android phone, an Android tablet, an iPhone and soon an iPad. I also have a laptop with Linux. Own an Xbox 360, and looking to get a PS3 soon.
Conversely, I don't understand people equally invested in railing on him and/or Apple. It all comes down to fanboyism/anti-fanboyism.
While I'm not a huge fan of the inflexible attitudes they have with their products or the inflated pricing; I am a huge fan of how they've pushed other companies to care more about certain aspects of their own products. (fit and finish, UI, etc...). And how they've forced entire industries (music) to rethink their business model.
I don't waste time liking/disliking companies. rather i like or dislike products. Products are all thats needed caring about from a consumer's perspective. either its a good product or its not. Value of products is subjective.
To that end, i really like my Ipad. i also really liked the ipod i used to have....don't like my likes? too fucking bad
the music thing is funny, because AOL actually approcahed Time warner (when they were merged back in the day) about putting the entire Warner music lib online for people to listen to and buy. Warner flat out said no. a few years later the music store came out
