Do you leave your monitor/computer on all the time?

Or is it bad to do so? I shut mine down every few nights or so, maybe every 2 weeks. I turn off the monitor only when I'm gonna be gone for a long time or at night. Is this wrong?

Monitors are always off if I'm not using them. Computers are always on unless there's a power outage.

I shut my work computer down on the weekends, but during the week I just put it in "hibernate" mode.

Home computer is really finicky about booting up after being shut down completely and I don't have the green to build a new one (I've had way too many problems with this computer besides the aforementioned), so I just put it into standby mode when not using it.

My computer is on all the time unless the power goes out.

My monitor is set to go off after 20 minutes of the computer not being used. If I leave for a long period of time, the computer stays on and the monitor gets turned off for the time I'm gone.

@ home I have 4 machines on a KVM so the monitor is in sleep mode when not in use and my puters stay on 24/7

All of my computers are on 24/7 and they go into power saving mode after 20 minutes. I never turn off my monitors either.

I leave on my computer most of the time without even restarting. I always turn off my monitor because I have an LCD and it will be ruined if I leave it on too long on the same image (burn in).

Desktop - 24/7 because I run a FREE 24/7 web monitoring program which monitors all sorts of traffic (HTTP, POP, IMAP, FTP, SMTP, etc.) for up to 6 domains.

LCD - Using power save mode, turns off after 30 minutes (roommate leaves his on 24/7).

Laptop - Turn off when not in use.

All rigs fully operational 24/7. Monitors sleep after 20 and manually switched off if I leave the area for a long period of time.

Computer? Yes. It's on 24/7. Monitor? It's set to turn off after 5 minutes (I have a habit of walking away and forgetting to do such things).

Work=On from 8AM on Monday - 5:00pm on Friday nonstop
Home=It varies. Off during the day when I'm at work, don't want to waste energy and it gets hot in my house. On in the evenings and on over night if I'm downloading something.

Funny thing you should mention it, in our meeting the other day one of our helpdesk guys managed to convince our manager that the reason so many hard drives are going out in our trianing room (we had 4 out of 10 go out in the last 2 months) is b/c people leave them on at night all the time or shut down the computers improperly....
