After watching a program last night on PBS about Cholesterol, which included an interview by Larry King of various professionals in the field, I think I might swear off fried fast-food items.

I'm more concerned about this issue than terrorism, and I live in NYFknCity.

Thoughts on cholesterol? Hype? Inevitability?

I eat an unbalanced diet (meat/protein-rich, cook with lots of oils/butters)..

Had my levels checked this year (age 23)... all checks out superb!

Shooting to run a check yearly

Not true at all.

That said, I had a sausage egg & cheese McGriddle this morning and my LDL's are under 100.

i had a physical with blood work a few weeks ago. i have high cholesterol (200+). my father and his sister both have high cholesterol.

my doctor recommended cardio 5 times a week and a modification to my diet instead of prescribing meds with a scheduled checkup in 6 months. he also suggested some herbal supplements.

so far i've done weight training and running on a treadmill 3 days a week for the past 3 weeks. i've cut down on red meat and cheese. i've also added flaxseed to my diet every morning.

i'll find out in july how well i did.

Far from it!

On the show, there was a family with hereditary condition called FH. The sons were built but still happened to have a count of 300+!

Cholesterol =/ Fattie McFat-Fat

However, having a high amount of body fat CONTRIBUTES to the body not being able to get rid of the bad cholesterol

I found out my cholesterol was at 218 a month back. I've drastically changed my diet and started exercising 5 days a week (cardio/weight training). I go back for a check up next month. I hope to be below 200 by then.

Long as my doctor doesn't give me greif, I don't worry. Got tested a month back and there was only talk of average scores, nothing to worry about.

A heartattack at an early age isn't something anyone should endure through.

Shape up man!

I tried eating better, that lasted about a week.

It can always be done. I love pastrami sandwiches and Double Western Bacon Cheeseburgers as much as the next man but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I haven't had it checked as no one in my family has had problems with it.

Blood pressure, on the other hand, will probably become a problem as I get older.
