Probably the richest person I met (but never got to know personally), was a friend of a friend. He is a Son of the S.FL dealership J.M. (Jim Moran Lexus, Pontiac, etc etc).

I remember he (then) had a brand new GM Syclone that we all went up to Moroso (different vehicles) and he did a few 1/4 mile runs in. He didn't come close to the mag #'s though, mid 14's IIRC. A month or two later he had traded it in for a brand new Celica AWD Turbo. Went off to college and lost touch with the one friend, which meant no more trips to the JM Castle (probably one of many) on the beach.

Another friend of mine's (whose $450K house I live in) father imports sunglasses from Taiwan and is probably worth 9 digits.

My family lives in a $750k house (thats Canadian though) So roughly the same as that. We have no where near a networth of 9 digits :p

Yeah, but this is the house he bought his son (my friend). The best part about it is that it's across the street from my school's (Tulane) all-girls freshman dorm. :D His parents live in Miami...their home is worth waaaaay more than $450K.

I went to high school with a couple kids whose parents owned a gigantic vitamin/health food conglomerate.

Their house is 40,000 square feet. No, not a typo. It looks like a hotel from the outside. It's even more impressive inside. They have like 3 kitchens and their main foyer is bigger than a small house.

My parents aren't that poor either. Their house is 4000 square feet on a 2 acre lot, got appraised at just above $1M earlier this year.

*nod* Family friend of ours owns a chain of sporting clothes stores and recently bought the Hummer dealership in the area. Had a yellow one parked in the driveway the last time I came by to visit. My Sentra felt so tiny. :(

Well if you can count that, then same goes for me. I work for the biggest computer company in the world.

I also am about to purchase a house on the same block that Billy Joel grew up on. Close enough?

Alright, then no, I don't personally know anyone. Happy now?

My uncle. The best part about him is that he is the same man now that he was when I was 10 years old.

In fact, we just got back from their house in Tampa this weekend. He is just a great guy.

My uncle is crazy rich

He's a venture capitalist (or was) and helped up start a ton of companies (chuck-e-cheese and carsdirect.com for samples)

Really the only benefit I get out of it is some pretty sweet family vacations, he gave his brother (my dad) a Lexus GS400.... and going to his house for holidays is always fun (he bought some super huge historical house in Palo Alto)
