Do you know people who drive around with open alcoholic beverages?

I've run into a few people (40's-50's) who drive around and dont think twice of opening a cooler and cracking open a beer. This was the first I had run into this, and I was just curious if it was more commonplace than I thought?

I knew some 20 year olds who did it when I was younger, but older adults? Weiird..

Well I was a passenger once with a open bottle of champain and was drinking it. The driver was not.
This was in Germany where its legal.

In the US where it has to be in your trunk, wouldn't more young people wanna drive wagons and hatchbacks?

Cop pulls you over, throw the beers back and go, "but its in the tunk, offimicer"

I know of quite a few, friends parents, uncles...
not out of the ordinary for people to road soda it up on a long drive for a fishing/camping trip

Yes. I have a neighbor who drives with a beer in his hand at all times, as far as I can tell. Our road is littered with empty beer cans. He throws them into the back of his truck through the driver's window when he finishes one and when the back of the truck is full of empties, they'll bounce off the pile and land in the road.

Oh, and the person I mentioned above is in the 45-55 year old range. And the biggest hillbilly I've ever met. His son calls him "Pa".

That's perfectly legal in some states...

(not in michigan though, so I don't know anyone that does that)

I don't believe there are any states that allow the driver to have an open container of alcohol in their posession, passengers in the car yes, but not the driver.

i'm pretty sure my sister's boyfriend does. he's been arrested for DUI at least twice anyway. Isn't there some kind of limit to how many times you can get arrested for that before you're put away for good or something? i'm pretty sure he also doesn't have his license anymore but he still drives. he's always drinking.

my sister is an idiot for being with this guy and having his kid. he's totally worthless, he can't keep a job for more than a few months. the only jobs he does get are all paid under the table. he treats his vehicles like crap. he's gone through at least 2 brand new trucks in the last year. constantly needing repairs. he has like 2 or 3 kids to another woman.

I've worked with a lot of guys over the years, who measure their drive time, by the number of 6-packs it takes to get home...

I'm also one of those assholes who will pick up the cell phone and make the call if I see you drinking beer while driving. It's fvcking dangerous enough on the roadways in this country, let alone to let people drink and drive...

Drink & Drive? Go directly to jail...

Our neighbor in the ghetto apartment we had used to consistently have a can of either Busch Light or Bud Light in her POS Saturn.

I've done it a few times. I'd stop at a gas station on the way home from work and get a single cold beer to drink on the way home. No big deal, it's only a single beer.

Interesting..... in CA, you get shot down by a MADD F/A-18 SuperHornet if you have booze in the car, so I wouldn't know...
