(Thread title+summary) and are over the age of 7? My cousin used to suck his thumb until he was like 12 and I thought he was retarded (which he likely is but who knows). His brother has followed the same pattern and is 10 right now, just can't figure it out. I don't think I ever sucked my thumb...

Yeah, there's usually a point at which that parent is supposed to say/scold: "take that out of your mouth and act your age. You're not 4 anymore!"
