I had no car for around 20 years, then my dad and his brother gave me one of their cars. I inherited my dad's car when he died, that's the one I'm driving now, the other one I turned into the government for $1000 to get it off the road, a 1983 station wagon.I roller skate, don't drive no car...
It's nice to have a car when you need it, but I could survive without one. I used to ride my bike to Costco, I'm the only guy I ever saw there with a bicycle. I'd fasten a super big basket on the back rack before each trip. I used to ride home with ~80 lb. of stuff on that bike. One day it was about 105 lb., and the ~5-6 mile ride was pretty rough going. A car is really easy street. I guess most Americans don't know how easy they have it.
