Non-inverted. I used to play inverted, but switched back when the original CS came out.

I made it 30/30 because I started playing FPS inverted and have tried to switch, but it makes me dizzy if I don't do it now. :)

My explaination

Before FPS's made it to consoles, there were flight games which always had you pushing up to go down. Whether it was first person view or third, I guess with consoles I've always felt more comfortable with the inverted Y axis.

When PC FPS's came out with Mouse control, I started with non-inverted. I don't make any sense, I know, for instance with Halo PC or Doom 3 PC I'll play non inverted, but if it's on Xbox I'll play inverted, Im a weirdo.

Inverted with a mouse in an FPS is pretty strange if you ask me.

Non-inverted seems odd to me. It's kinda like flying a plane. :p

I haven't played much lately, can't remember which is inverted etc.

Last night was playing Xbox with my son (Halo2) had a hellava time with the d@mn thing.

When I'm using the joy stick like thingy on the console controller I want it to be like a joy stick on a plane. Pulling back looks up, pushing forward looks down, etc. When playing on a PC, that's how my mouse works (back/towards me for "look up", forwards/away from me for " look down").

My son coundn't figure out hwo to change it. If you guys know LMK. Maybe I won't suck so bad at Xbox games :)

I have to play inverted. Seems more intuitively correct. Imagining the mouse controls the head in a FPS, pulling the mouse towards you = lifting head up, pushing mouse away = lowering head.

Pretty much. Its all about moving the crosshair - any sort of stick makes me feel like I'm piloting a plane, but the mouse, you just directly move where you want it.

Its pretty crazy how its nearly impossible to switch easily.

I agree. In an FPS, you're moving a cursor. It's not like you're tilting a whole plane, and furthermore the mouse is not tilting, but sliding.

BUT on an XBOX where you play with a stick, I can ONLY play Halo (the few times I have) with it inverted. The motion of the joystick emulates the angling of the gun. It's at all like moving a cursor as you would with a mouse.

My God I thought I was the only one.

Right mouse button runs forward, R-Ctrl backpedals, and the arrow keys handle jumping/crouch/left and right strafing. I find this works great for me in all games except those that have an inordinate number of controls (COD series with it's leaning, crouching, prone, throw grenade, switch weapons, change firing rate, etc.).

Edit: I use the custom key bindings, but I use non-inverted to play FPS. About the only thing I use inverted for is the occasional flying game.

I used non-inverted in FPS because I tend of think of it as the way my eyeballs work. Just point the eyeballs in the direction you want to look.

Non-inverted, because I'm awesome. Although, I understand how some could have gotten used to inverted. Back in the day, it was even the default in a few games. And depending on which game you learned how to control things on, it may have become your automatic default.

I have been playing FPS since before Quake World came out. At that time I inverted. Infact in order to use the mouse to look around you had to type +mlook into the console. WOW I have been playing games that long and remember that command...scary..... pushlatency was another one to tweek your crappy 19600bps modem!
