Do you intend to vote 3rd party this Presidential election?

1. It's a waste of a vote, yeah, but at the same time it does seem that enough 3rd party votes, this election or another, might start to persuade the American people that 3rd party is viable, in which case there'd be a purpose to voting 3rd party.

2. Based on where you live and how you want to vote, are you defeated before you begin? An example would be a Republican in a west coast state, or a Democrat in a heartland state.

Figured I'd avoid a second thread cluttering things up.

I'm voting for Nader because I live in California. If my state were close, I would vote for Obama but since it's not I have the luxury of voting for who I really want.

Voting Democrat, and I'm in Minnesota which is a semi-swing state but almost certainly going to Obama. McCain is still going to campaign here but his chances are much worse than in Florida or Ohio.

I'll never vote for a 3rd party. Because they will never win in this system.

I am middle class. The actual middle class and not the republican "middle class" (i.e., those earning $750,000/year and up). I've voted straight ticket democratic all my life and will do so until there's no "paid for" advertising for campaigns (i..e, only free, public television and radio debates with no commercial interest).

Getting rid of the need to raise big $$$$ for elections is the only way to shake off the special interests from our political system (i.e., to get elected, you need to do whatever your funding source tells you to do).

Until the need to raise $$$ for campaigns is taken out of the equation, politicians will never be able to do what they believe is in the best interest of the country.

CA, dominant D state, doesn't matter who I vote for, though I'm gonna vote for Barrack instead of putting in some 3rd party nut job.

Most likely Green party, but I haven't quite made up my mind yet. I'm from NY, so it doesn't matter much, not that I'd vote for either party even if I was the deciding vote.

I was going to vote lib, but my friend is trying to convince me to write in RP...but I keep telling him that write-ins aren't even counted, what can you do under Republican communism when you think the Dems are dumb?

I live in AL, so unless the earth opens up and swallows a good portion of the electorate, our EC votes are going to McCain/Failin. I was a McCain supporter in 2000, but I couldn't in good conscience vote for him today. I don't know who I am going to vote for, so I am currently looking heavily into third parties.

Was planning to vote for McCain up until recently, but he, and Republicans in general, have been pissing me off a lot. I'm ready to say fuck 'em and vote for Bob Barr or something. (I voted for the Libertarian candidates in both 2000 and 2004.)

And VA is looking sort of like a swing state this year.

For the first time in my life, (Voted ONLY Democrat since 1972) I might actually consider a 3rd party candidate IF there was one worth voting for. IMO, Nader ain't it...never was.

I'm in Kahleeforneeya, so my vote really wouldn't matter anyway, we're pretty solidly blue here, but once again, we're offered candidates the likes of which give me the option of voting for the one I dislike less than the other one.
TehMac once asked me if I was a populist...sadly, I had to look that up...and yeah, sort of, I AM a Populist. Much to my great surprise, the Populist Party thinks very highly of Ron Who?
Maybe he needs to change his party affiliation...get out from under the Greed, Oil, and Power party.

I didn't like either choice in 2004, but figured the lesser wrong would be tolerable. Damn was I wrong.

Republicans will uphold conservatism or they will be brought down to their knees.

Can't or won't?

Won't. I'm already registered in my state so I'm going to find out who I can call to remove my registration so I can be removed as one of their statistics. I'm going to be a part of the 60% of people who aren't voting. Politics is an evil game that serves to divide us all into groups to determine who gets power and control where whichever group succeeds somehow obtains the right to boss everyone else around. Its sick and its wrong.

Im going to vote libertarian, I was thinking about mcain but all this bail out nonsence and the republican party being a bunch of bums the last few years make it difficult to do. Im in utah so wont matter what I vote as far as the state goes. I think voting 3rd party though is going to make a bigger difference of showing support then voting for R or D will.

How exactly could a vote for a minority be any less meaningful than a vote in a swing state? Neither will have any effect whatsoever on the outcome of the Election.

Im non U.S but unlike my fellow Obama supporters here in the U.K, I think I would consider Ralph Nader (but would like to do some more research on fair tax etc.)
