Do you have to watch sports to be a man?

One of my co-workers is an avid sports fan. On the other hand I don?t enjoy watching sporting events. He believes that you have to watch sports to be man. I?ve played many sports over the years and I just don?t enjoy watching them on TV but I do go to a baseball or basketball game and I enjoy watching the live events. I?ve explained this to him and he still thinks I?m weird because I don?t watch sports on TV.

meh

there are plenty of 'men' who have no interest whatsoever in sports. i believe the proper term is "homosexual".

KIDDING - seriously - although i'm an avid sports nut, i don't think anyone is less manly if they don't care about sports. there are far more important things to do in one's spare time, like knitting or working on a jigsaw puzzle.

I don't so I hope not.

I do enjoy pointing out to my coworkers that it's ridiculous to refer to a college team as "we" when they aren't on the team and never even attended the school.

Oh no here come all the macho men...

I watch certain sports because it's entertaining. I play some because it's fun. It doesn't make you any more of a man than the guy who fixes cars, drives a stickshift, or uses powertools - or even the man who takes care of the lawn, babysits his kid, cooks dinner for his busy wife, or does the laundry. The most admirable men are the ones who do it all.

Do people not realize the "men-only" stuff was a HS ego thing ?

If you are spending that time not watching sports with the wimmens, then you get a pass.

Watching or playing. Btw nascar is not a sport and as such does not qualify. Neither does golf. You dont have to be interested in all sports, but interest in figure skating does cancel out any manly interests.

My roomate isn't into sports and he feels very immasculated (and rightly so) when my girlfriend watches basketball with me.

Oh yeah and it doesnt matter whether you are watching live or on tv. I prefer tv cus of the better viewing angles (as opposed to what I will pay for) and the extra information you get (I'm a stat junkie). T.V. also gives you more opportunities to watch, but if you go to games thats the same thing.

Yes. To be a manly man, you need to watch sports....then again, if you are a real man, you naturally watch sports already. Otherwise, you are a girly-man.

Why is watching enough ? Why isn't playing sports considered the qualification of being a manly man ?

Can't you at least tolerate Women's College Volleyball? :p
No, you don't. I watch a little bit of soccer here and there, but that's about it.

So you like watching men in tights or short pants humping eachother?

Ah well, each his own I guess... Personally I don't like gay porn.
