Nope and for a reason. If I'm fired, I won't have to worry about that ackward walk back to my office to "collect my things". I'll just get up and leave from the place I was given the news.

Yep. Same reason I do it. Besides, it's work, not my home.

Meh, I'd have to do that anyway - kb/mouse/mousepad/phone charger are all mine because the stuff we get sucks. 😛

I have a photo of my fiancee with enormous smile that I took during her first time on a cruise ship. Reminds me of better times.

Used to... And the photos were like personal-work as in stupid or funny photos of coworkers in "uniform". Some people thought I was dating them or something -- one guy, one gal. Dafuq? One photo was of a dog I almost ran over with a company car in the middle of nowhere. No, not my damn dog.

I stopped putting them up when I just started FMLing every day at work. The last office I had, I put nothing up, took most of my personal crap home, and had most stuff in a box ready to leave.

Quite a few years ago we had a considerable layoff. The layoffs were unannounced so we had a bunch of desks sitting around with people's personal effects on them. Most of the stuff was boxed up and sent to people, but other's said they didn't want anything sent to them. So, I took a bunch of pictures of other people's families and put them on my desk. It was good fun for awhile until HR made me toss them. I always liked when a vendor would come in and comment on my "family". He must have thought I was Amish because there were about 10 different kids worth of pictures on my desk.

HR is always trying to rain on peoples parades.

This. Work is always temporary and I remind myself that my employment will end at some point.

nope... the only personal items I have on my desk are a mini USB Christmas tree and a Funko Pop! figure that was a gift from my BF when we first started dating.

no space for photos on my desk at home, between 2 x 24" monitors, speakers, and my tower taking up space on the desk.

I work from home. Plenty of pics of the family in the house. My office is full of star wars crap and pc gaming posters.

First couple places I was at seemed to make us change cubes or offices every six months. The more personal effects I had the more shit there was to move. I have one or two pictures of kids that I keep in my desk (because the old women ask on occasion to see pictures) but otherwise, nope. I'm pretty spartan when it comes to that stuff.

I have an autographed picture of RMS on the wall next to my desk at work. Otherwise, I prefer digital pictures.

Not exactly the prettiest guy to have on your desk. He looks like a dirty hippie 🙂

Oh, and yes, I have a picture of my wife and kid in my cubicle. It hopefully helps my co-workers remember that I'm a human being and not a 24/7 software testing machine.

The fewer personal affects I have at work, the better.
Never know when you need to make a quick, clean getaway.
