Yes. It's an Macintosh network too.

Speeds suck though. It's only 1mbit down / 128kbit up line though.

It's great for when the broadband it out though.

Yes, though I don't need really it. If my gf ever has trouble getting onto my wireless network, I do just have her use the other area ones until I get back (assuming she doesn't need anything on any of my network shares).

nope, i'm using MAC Filtering...

You do know that MAC address filtering is useless, right? Anyone who wants to get in, will, and not to mention, with great ease. :p

As far as I know I'm the only person on my block with a wireless network. Been that way for a few years now and doesn't look like it's going to change any time soon.

Is that doable? I've used neighbors' wireless networks before. Probably most people don't use any protections. But, is it possible to browse their hard drive or is it just that you can use their bandwidth?

yes, there are at least 6 wireless networks i can "discover", and one of them is wide open. every once in a while i connect to it just to see if i still can. it's dog slow, tho, so i don't use it much.

and btw, i live in the burbs, in a neighborhood of single family homes.

If they're using WEP you can still access them fairly easily.

If you drive in my driveway you could connect.

However no one ever has tried (logs are clean)

One of the offices in our building has one we can leach however.

Living in a pricey apartment complex I have a few unprotected access points to choose from. But with the walls in-between us the connection is sketchy at best. So I pay $45/mo for a cable modem and use basic WPA to protect myself. Wirelessly posting from my patio as we speak :D

There are a handful within range and all but one excluding mine are protected.
