That's my only gripe with IE, and it's been like that since IE5 (it did actually work before that if I remember). As for IE itself, I have no problems with it rendering pages, it even displays badly coded pages ok. I tried Mozilla, and it was actually slower than IE, especially with the pre-loader off.

At least it had the option though, so those that didn't want it maximised didn't have to and visa-vera. Now it just doesn't work :\

It can be made to work if you take the effort to:

1. Create a new shortcut to Internet Explorer (iexplorer.exe)
on the desktop by right clicking on Desktop and selecting
New | Shortcut.

2. Right click the shortcut, select Properties and change
the Target to:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -k

3. Run the new IE shortcut and get a full screen IE window.

4. Right click on some link on a web page and select "Open
in New Window" and you should get a 99% maximized window
instead of the usual small second window.

5. Close the new window and close the full screen window
by hitting Alt-F4.

6. Now try your usual Internet Explorer shortcut (that
doesn't have the -k switch) and you'll be able to
"Open in New Window" and still get a window that's
pretty close to being maximized.

7. Unless you want a full screen IE, delete the IE shortcut
containing the -k switch.

tabbed browsing RULES. but i didn't consider that as a gripe of IE just because Mozilla (or maybe someone else) had it first.

Actually, opening a new window and ctrl clicking the close button brings the same result, but allot less work! :p

Unfortunately that doesn't always work and seems to work best on older version of IE.

IE6 is nice imho. No problems with it, it's never crashed or failed to display images.

I can't seem to view the source code of webpages with IE6. I right click and choose "view source" and then nothng happens... That's my only grip about it.

sometimes when saving webpages (cnn, msn, etc) ie6 gives errors, so i have mozilla only for the purpose of saving webpages.

i wish there were a better way. either ie6 improves, or some smaller app that can save pages without a hitch.

It's very quick and stable, and has nice load time. I don't know why IE's stability could not have transfered over to windows explorer (XP in particular) but that's a whole 'nother issue.

For you tabbed browsing fans, you can get that with IE by installing the crazy browser plugin, however I still prefer Mozilla to it.

Same thing happens to me in IE. No problem at all saving pages using Opera.
