I hereby expel you from the geek ness club... you shall never be a geek!!!

hmmm.... somehow I think I did him a favor.

BTW, my mom play games online all the time. When ever I find a cool flash game, I show it to her. She loves video games. My dad on the other hand can?t use a mouse!!! :D

whao, vi_edit and nohr, your mums can kick my mum's ars. i hope they all won't join a UT2003 clan named Frustrated{ |\/| u |\/| }

and SSP: reason why I don't know how to run Trillian is because I don't have to use it. and leave my geekiness alone! ! she can't :p

Lol, not with a Celeron 300A @ 375 and a TNT 16MB she won't! She's more in to stuff like Tetris, though lately she works too much and doesn't have the time it seems.

My mom is 39 and basically doesn't know much about computers at all.

My dad still knows more about DOS than me (a bit before my time), but I know more about everything else. He can keep up pretty well though, I just get more exposure.

She knows how to burn, how to reinstall windows, format, fdisk, setup a basic network, the works :) Over the next few weeks I'll be showing her how to convert divx avis to raw mpegs so she can watch the episodes we download on the set-top DVD player :)

My mum kicks your mum's ass :D She turns 40 next year

They love to watch me work on the computers, and my son is going to help me build the next one I do real soon. :D Speaking of which, I just got done fixing my mommys computer and reformatting it over the weekend again, she now thinks I am some kind of computer god.

Girlfriday: no no no, I dare not to offend anyone using Trillian, it is just the fact that most mum don't even use ICQ and my mummie just went off and d/l trillian herself.

she is no match to your nef-ness :)

My mom (and most of my family except me...the blacksheep) is morman. If anyone knows anything about mormans, they know that genealogy is 2nd only to god. My mother downloaded the church's free genealogy software and has tracked our roots WAY back. She takes pictures at old cemetaries of our forefathers (and mothers, cousins, aunts. etc) headstones which she scans into the computer. Last year, she finished her first genealogy book, done entirely on her own, on her computer. She installs and plays games, stuff like Myst, Riven, Scrabble, etc. She's had trouble with her pc before and has pulled and reseated cards and cables. Her hard drive died last year, but she had backed up all her data on her zip drive so she lost nothing. She had someone replace the HD and install Windows, but she reinstalled the web cam, printer, peripherals. I would have done it for her, but I'm 250 miles away. She also cracks SETI@Home for Team AnandTech. She'll be 54 in October.

Also, a few months ago, she bought a new Mitsubishi (or maybe Toshiba?) big screen TV and DVD player which she hooked up with her satellite dish and VCR.

Technology hasn't passed my mom! :)
