You may have new users for a while, but without a reason for them to stay they will leave.

It is not an unusual business tactic.

Agreed and it can work.
I recently learned that the aaltonen.us forums were shutting down effective 7/31/2005, so I jumped into action and formed PowerEdgeForums.com. Best of all it cost me $0 (except for the domain, vBulletin license and web hosting).

How did you come across that info though, or did you happen to be a member there?
I posted a WTB at sitepoint, and have been looking at WTS but nothing remotely close is available. Maybe I should just do it the hard way. 😛

Yea I have been having increasing problems with my current host. It is possible that my mysql driven CMS and phpBB is becoming too much for their server, but I am paying for 50gb of bandwidth and barely using 1gb per month. This should not be happening.

Bandwidth means jack when you're on a weak server that can't handle it 😉
