Do you have a receeding hairline?

I'm only 16 and I'm starting to see it on me. 🙁 Does that Rogaine stuff work for someone like me? Or do I have to be older? I'm going to shave my head all the way this summer, accept it if I can't grow it back.

Who cares? My hair line isn't receeding, but if it ever does I don't give a damn (seriously). Its just hair - at least now you don't have to do anything with it in the morning. The only person who _really_ cares if you have hair or not is you...

Oh, I say this when I'm 22...I suppose if you're 16 losing your hair sucks to be you.

Do receding hairlines run in your family??? I'd say you're a little young to be worrying about that now. Might want to get it checked out.

At your age you better start worrying Alf. My brother were taking Prophecia and he saw results after 6 months and I just start taking it I hope it'll work for me too.

I started losing mine at 16 and you really could tell by 18. It was very traumatic. There was no Rogaine or Propecia (sp?) option then (mid-80's) so it just went away. If you wish to keep your hair, get started on the stuff now, it's much harder to get back after it's gone.

Yes. The gene is dominant in men, and I believe semi-dominant in women(aka if you have one gene, you get partial effects)

ok then. i'd suggest you leave it alone. If it bothers you, just do a combover. Combovers are great, they appeal fashionably and the ladies dig'em. Back me up ladies.

Started in my mid 20's

The gene, as I understand it, is inhereted from anyone in your family and a bunch of other things....

I rate between 5 and 6 on the following scale

I just thought of this.. Why is the hair on the head the only part that recedes. Why doesn't hair recede on other parts of the body?

Yep, started loosing it when I was 16. Im 22 now, and its almost all gone and I just where a cap all the time. Also since im out of school now, I don't worry about it as much. As for rogaine....its suck. Try Prophecia instead.

Shaved my head when I was 18, while piss drunk... err.. I had taken some Nyquil and wasn't myself at the time. Anyways, it never really grew fully back. Been receding ever since. Made me mad at first, but I really don't give a flying rat's elbow anymore. Hop out of the shower, run the comb through my hair to straighten it out, and I'm off. Low maintance.

Alpha,

If it gets really bad I can shave my body hair off and make a wig. I'm quite sure I would have enough to do it (note the icon).

I am not going bald, but I have one gray hair on top of my head. I have been trying like crazy to yank it out, but I always miss it and yank a perfectly normal hair out. The problem is that it's hard to see that hair because my hair is really shiny, so it's hard to tell which one is black shiny and which one is grey. But I know it's there, and it's pissing me off. So I guess I will have male pattern baldness too, except it will be centered around that one gray hair 🙂
