ok you have to have a phone line. I don't want a home phone just to have tivo

Yeah and dont you already need the cable box to pick up digital channels?

So if I used Tivo with digital cable I would have to rent a comcast dvr dual tuner box, then buy a tivo then pay the tivo monthly fee then buy a landline which i dont have?
No, yes, yes, no.

So with the Tivo box I would be able to get all the digital cable channels and ondemand without renting a box from comcast? And it doesnt need a landline either?
Yes you need a digital box, but no, you do not need a "comcast dvr dual tuner box."
You may need a landline for initial setup ONLY, but there are several methods around this that are effective for most people.

Well isnt the comcast dvr dual tuner box about the same price as a regular digital box? the dual tuner one is $9.95 a month, how much is a regular digital box?
I don't know, I don't have comcast.

I had a SA8300HD from TWC for 3 days before I returned that piece of garbage.

Comcast DVR, I don't need no stupid HTPC with buggy issues that might cause it not to record something, Comcast is batting 1.000 for me so far in this case.
pfft. My MCE box is 1000x more reliable than the POS SA8300HD I got from TWC. Maybe if you suck at computers, that is the case for you.

Okay WTF I called comcast to downgrade my service... the lady asked why and I told her I'm paying for a bunch of stuff I don't use... so she downgraded me to basic cable (channels 2-81) and DVR service. They told me that it's impossible to do that... on one hand I'm glad cause it's cheaper, on the other hand I've been paying $40 a month more for how many months??
