Do you have a problem understanding certain types of voices?

I wonder if I have a hearing problem, but I've always been like this. People that have certain types of voices (usually deep voices), I have a problem understanding. I'm a musician and I can pick out subtle bass notes and usually be within a sharp or a flat of the note, but for some reason there's a range of voices I can't hear very well.

Also, cartoon characters like Cartman and Meatwad- I can't understand a word they're saying. What do you think- ear cancer?

I had a teacher once who couldn't hear certain types of voices well because of a brain injury. If I remember right, his was female voices, but only within a certain range.

I have trouble understanding speech if there's any background noise, or if there are other people talking. If there are other conversations going on, I can even have trouble talking coherently. I just can't seem to filter them out.

Eric Cartman? I can understand him easily. Smeagol/Gollum - also understandable.

Most music - generally incomprehensible. I often need to read the lyrics to piece together what is being said.

SAME, drives me crazy how others can just pick right up on the lyrics of songs.

Check this out. I'm 99% sure I have this, but I don't have money to be tested, and I sure as hell don't have money for treatment. I keep forgetting to look into it anyway. I heard about it on NPR once.

Heh, at my company, it's getting where 80% of the people we deal with are of...off-shore decent, so it's:

"Hello, garblegarblegarble, Kaisabeer, garblegarblegarble, ticket, garblegarblegarble, SCM, etc, etc, etc."

We usually tell them to log onto the company support IM and communicate with us that way.

Hmm, I sometimes have some of those symptoms. It seems to vary by day though.
