Yes, a mediocre one at that. It's a part of the rockwell audio/modem combo card that came with this cheap system, but I can't complain about the performance I guess.

I'm building a new system now and still require a modem, but not decided which yet. Probably something cheap like oem CL modem blaster. The USR hardware modem is I think $43 at newegg.com but none of the remarks make me sure it's worth the difference.

I still have one, but only for faxing documents on a rare occasion. Right now it's not even plugged into a phoneline. Wonder if taking it out would help the system in any way?

wow..more people answered no than i thought. the reason why i asked was because when i built my system back in february i thought that I might need one just in case i lost my cable connection or something. but i never bought one and totally forgot that i didnt have one.
