Do you have a military ID, do you get a ticket?

Only douche bags show their military id when they get pulled over and most times they still end up getting a ticket.

We still get tickets when we get pulled over if a ticket is warranted.
Occasionally, the cop will be ex-military himself and let you off with a warning, but thats not really that common.
Everybody speeds in Phx, typically 10mph over the speed limit sign. The cops are doing this to, so to get pulled over for speeding, you really have to be flying.

It only helped me one time out of all the times I was pulled over while I was in. The cop happened to see my ID in my wallet and asked me about it and let us go with a warning. I don't even remember now what stupid stuff we were up to to get pulled over now. I don't know that he let us go specifically because I was military or he just didn't want to be bothered with a group of smart a$$ed teens.
I was an MP in the Army for a few years, and I got off with a warning on all but one ticket (including an 83-in-a-55mph zone). Of course, that was probably due more to being an MP than being a soldier.
I don't know that its ever been a deciding factor but it probably doesn't hurt. Other things that help are a concealed carry permit and a veteran's license plate. 
I can tell you one vaguely related story. When my car broke down and I was in uniform, I walked maybe ten feet before two separate cars pulled over to ask if I needed help.:thumbsup:

It isn't that hard to get two IDs. Just go to the MPF and lie that you lost it. They'll make you a new one on the spot and now you have two. I don't recommend you doing this, my old First Sgt found a wallet on a sidewalk in base housing that had two IDs in it and called SFOSI on the dude that it belonged to.
Most of the people in the military that I know drive on an expired driver's license. If you're active duty and stationed outside of the state which issued you your license, you don't have to keep it up to date (my brother's has been expired for the past 7 or 8 years). They show their military ID so they don't get hassled for driving with an expired license.

Military IDs seem more likely to get you a ticket. It means you have a paying job and they can garnish your paycheck to get the fine. Added on top of that, the meeting with the 1SG to explain why you got the ticket, extra duty if the 1SG wants to, etc. It can be a major PITA.

I lived on base at the time and my vehicle registration had the name of my unit on it since it was part of my mailing address.
My buddies have gotten out of tickets before for showing their military ID, and gotten friends out of tickets too. I've gotten out of a ticket (and the only time I've been pulled over) because I had a mini-shield of my father's in my wallet.

My buddy gets out of tickets all the time with it. Probably helps that he doesn't live close to a base, so there's a little more novelty when the police see his ID.
My friend in the Air Force gets out of tickets a lot with it (hasn't gotten one actually)...
I play baseball with a kid in the Customs Agency who gets pulled over at least once a month, and in the 2 years he's been in the customs agency, he has never gotten a ticket...
maybe it's a YMMV with NYC/Jersey?

my theory is that the farther away from a military instillation , the less probability that you will get a ticket.
