do most cats mind being on a leash?

Most cats hate it. I don't know why people try and put them in harnesses.

Anybody that lets their cats roam is an asinine moron.
Thou dissembling reeling-ripe flirt-gill!
Go, prick thy face, and over-red thy fear, Thou lily-liver'd boys.
Thou warped pox-marked scuts!
Thou art a very superficial, ignorant, unweighing fellow.
Thou misbegotten pox-marked skainsmate!
Thou rank hasty-witted boar-pig!
Thou unmuzzled doghearted clack-dish!
Thou puking toad-spotted joithead!

Ahh, you need a harness? I was thinking you just tightened their collar real tight and used a regular leash.

Most cat hates leash. But once they're trained to use it, they love it.

I have a friend who owns a Siamese. She would carry the leash in her little mouth and drag it to the front door waiting for my friend to walk her everyday.

I think the breed has a bit to do it.

LoL HellRaiserandBeerDrinker

But how do you really feel?

I work with an animal rescue group and it ticks me off how calous people can be about their pets.

Got new carpeting? Put the cat down.

Got to move? Put the cat down.

If I lived in ohio I would just suggest they drop them off in lirion's yard....

I don't let mine outside.
They have a way of finding their way under the hood of your car in the winter.

mine is 3 legged so she can't defend or run, so, she doesn't go outside. well, beyond the balcony of the apartment. and shes only there while supervised because shes been caught walking along the ledge that runs around the building.

maybe i'll put her on a leash and try to walk her.

My cat always went outside.

He was hit by a car twice.
Climbed under a running engine once.
Had handful of NASTY fights leading to gross puffy infections....

(and thats just the 'outdoor' problems!)

Then cancer got him...:(
But not til he was 17. :)

we got my cat "Butch" as a kitten in june of 1985(That makes him 17). we lived in a new suburban area with farm land on 2 sides of the house at the time and he came back hurt a couple times so we got him neutered and didn't run into many problems since then. The neighborhood filled in about 3 years later so most of his life was spent living in typical suburbia. He had one close call at that house when some punk shot him in the chest with a pellet gun. He pulled through, though. a couple years ago we moved to a semi-rural lakefront house. Last summer something got a hold of him and bit him pretty good in the neck. found him under the deck coughing up blood and wheezing and all that fun. He pulled out of that one too...couldn't meow for about 6 months but he's going strong now. He doesn't venture too far anymore. He's got a chair on the deck he lays in and he'll walk down to the lake to drink. He's never going to die.

we got a new kitten last august that we did get declawed and made an indoor cat due to her curiosity and all the critters in forest behind the house. The new leather couches also helped the decision. she sits by the door all day and wishes she could be outside :(

My cat is mostly an indoor cat, but I let it out a couple times a week to wander around...poops in the neighbours lawns too often though, which is part of the reason why we keep it in.

Cats should be able to roam, but they are killing our song birds and creating other disasters. It's a catch 22, so I don't have a cat.

Two cats. Both stay inside all the time. They get to go out on the enclosed back porch, if they like.

We have a Sphynx & a Devon Rex, let them out in well fenced back yard for a little while. Can't let the Sphynx out too long, he gets sunburned.

We also have Devon Rex kittens, 1 male that's not spoken for; anyone in Dallas area want to buy him?

How much did your Sphynx cost. I thought it was kinda high. I always wanted one.

putting kitty outside = dead animals, possible road kill, and possible victim of cruelty.. some people suck.

btw, don't they have shock collars for kitties that keep em within your yard?

"I don't know what we can do," Stephanie said. "I'm not going to get another cat, because it might happen again."
I guess it never occured to her she could simply get a cat and keep it in her house. All ours are indoor cats and the one thing I can be certain of is they will not be bothered by some sicko, some future serial killer, or run over by a car.

Sphynx cost more than my first car, paid $2K for him.

The kittens Rex/Sphynx crosses are sort of a genetics experiment for my daughters, the kittens all have short, soft, curly hair that doesn't shed like regular cats. The whole hair follicle will pull or fall out, but they don't do the seasonal shedding. When we cross the kittens with another Sphynx, eack kitten will have a 50/50 chance of having sort curly hair or very little hair.

Both cats have recessive hair mutations, it's difficult to breed recessive mutations & keep them expressed.

Personally, in the country, I think cats should be free. They don't roam in packs like dogs do. As much as I love dogs, I don't think they should roam free anywhere because of that reason. A pack of dogs is a dangerous thing.

I agree...I got mobbed by a pack of cocker spaniels once...those things are dangerous! :D

Not as bad as a pack of Irish Setters. They are pure evil!
