I have one and I use it. I filmed a lot at my son's birth (but not the actual birth, didn't see the point).

It sounds silly ... but I often joke that I want to film the birth (from a non-gross view of course) ... watching it through a little screen would be more like youtube, so I won't pass out :)

Of course I probably would prop it ... I'd rather hold my first born than the damn camera!

I filmed some of the delivery of our first son from the headboard so it wasn't graphic. Once my son popped out, the nurse grabbed the camera and filmed me cutting the cord and all of us together. Between an alien-baby and episiotomy(sp), there ain't much you wanna get on film.

Takes great 720p video...

I tested out the Zi6 for a while too, also has 720p @ 60fps mode.
Pretty decent, but decided not to keep it since it doesn't have OIS and only 2x Optical Zoom.
However if you could get it while its on sale sometimes from $120 to $140, its hard to beat the price.

The Ex GF has a bunch of VX2100's that she uses to film bands, given the money she makes from it you could call the entire endeavor a past time. She uses them at least 3 times a month for 3-4 camera live mixes of various events.

A lot of newer digital cameras now have 720p h.264 video. Speaking for myself, I can't see any reason why I would ever buy a dedicated camcorder. A whole separate device just so I can zoom? I'd trying to consolidate gadgets, not stockpile them.
