I like XP better than any previous MS OS.

It's only vulnerable because it's the most used, doesn't matter what OS it is, the most popular one will be targeted maliciously.
now where have i heard this one before? this isn't an opinion coming from someone who has nothing but problems is it?

my philosophy is

if it ain't broke, don't fix it

with that said, a couple of hours needed for a entire fresh install is not worth tha advantage (i can only think of the jpeg viewer... i don't use firewall and i use firefox so SP2 is null to me)

win2k is stable and all of my drivers work. i don't feel like wasting hours trying to find drivers for older hardware on XP.

so win2k >> win xp

Nope. I have have to support 100+ XP workstations eveyday, and my problems are WAY less then they where on 98 and NT.

Im still using win2k, i installed winxp twice and i didnt like how it felt compared to win2k. Maybe ill give it another chance when i get a new hd or something.

yes, I've hated it since the day I clicked on the start button and it rebooted :disgust:

i  98se

theme service doesnt really take up that much resources really... hope you win2k lovers enjoy your extra long boot time and lack of PS/2 mouse sampling rate anything higher than 100Hz. <- the only glaring differences i can tell except for themes which is a nice bonus.

Windows XP is superior to 2k in almost every way. I would have no issues choosing between the two.

If you threw OSes I like even better into the mix, I still wouldn't have any issues (OpenBSD).

XP is the first Microsoft OS I don't swear at on a daily basis. There are no reasons to use 2k instead.

To those of you who switch the start menu back to the Win 95 style, I have no choice but to say you are stupid.

i do change all the menu-type things back to 2K-style and get rid of the idiot OMGHI2U control panel, but after that I prefer the look of XP and other than that it's basically the same system. plus i have some programs that only run in XP. so XP for me.

Why? The default start menu is aimed at computer newbies, with its big bright buttons and being only able to access a few things from clicking on the start button. I especially hate the default control panel in XP. The first thing I do when I load XP is turn on the classic start menu, enable classic control panel, and check "display adminstrative tools" and "show small icons in start menu".

That said, XP and 2000 are excellent. Microsoft finally have an stable OS to build from. Let's hope they don't undo all their good work in their next release.

yes it happends in XP....and when it happends you dont want to see it...its usally a driver conflict, or a piece of hardware dying.

XP is way better, and SP2 is good

Did you know that ME,9x,and 2k does not need a patch for hd bigger then 120gb?
XP= NT,2K with some feature taken out. SP1 does not fix anything it just their to make piracy harder forcing people with 160gb hd or larger to patch it, SP2 is another fix stop piracy completely. Good for MS? Y, sp2 can go fvck itself, piece of gargabe coming from an arse of MS programmer needing to make changes to your OS.

Go spout your FUD somewhere else, zealot.

XP has far too much crap installed by default, without giving the user the option to uninstall, and I hate that.

Thank God for Nlite to rip out all the useless junk. Its the only way I use XP. 😉

Never had a problem with 2000. Always been a good stable OS for me.

XP never really gave me any advantage over 2K, other than proper Hyped Up Threading support.
