I'll type up the official email and send it out, and I will call the people who need it "dumbed down" and let them know what's going on... Now they have direction from myself that I know they can understand, as well as a hard copy to place in their PST that they can go back to at any time if they need to refresh their memory...

aaaah.... so the OP is one of 'em lesser humans then?

This is a typical management thing. Every office I've worked in has a manager that does this.

you do realize you are probably hated for this right? When you call, the other person has to stop what they are doing and pretend they care to what you have to say. They will probably not even be listening. Then they will delete the email.

That's fine... There's a reason I have to call certain people... because they can't understand a simple email... :D

Also - They can delete the email if they want too... But if that email explains a new procedure and they fail to comply in the future then we have a larger problem with that employee... and they can't say they were not informed...

My boss will do this, but worse. He call you leave a message, on every phones you've touched in the last week and then page, email and attack anything else you have that he can message you on. And every message is the same thing. All that just so he can ask one stupid question...drives me nuts.

OH-MY-GOD... I hate it so much. I had a girl text me the other day saying check my e-mail. I then flipped out at her saying that I use IMAP on my computer and whenever I am near a computer I check my e-mail and it comes almost instantaneously. There is absolutely no reason to tell someone that they sent you an e-mail unless it's absolutely urgent.

EXACTLY

This person has also sometimes sent me the email, and then came by desk to say they sent me the email.

I love when they walk over to your desk, and they get there before the email gets to you, to ask you if you got the email they just sent you.

Why?

I hate the opposite. You know, when something big happens, and te left hand doesn't talk to the right hand about it so nobody knows WTF is going on..... There's no such thing as too much information when it comes to work.

Email is god.

I prefer email about 5000x to voice conversation face to face or phone conversation. Email leads to a trace-able history of yours and the other person's footprints.

They are getting sued not I!! :D

yes, i work in the financial industry.

I check my email once a minute. I need to, otherwise it quickly adds up.

I provide near instant service, or as fast as humanely possible, to other agents/planners, etc. and I demand the same. I have found that the " do unto others as blah blah blah" generally works. Others will complain about not getting fast responses from an agent or whatnot and I am sitting there getting all I need :)

I hate people with a passion that take more than 1 hour to get back to you. Poor time management...

but I am just a machine when it comes to work so meh.
