Do you hate when people do this?

Do you hate it when a coworker emails you and then calls you to tell you "I just sent you this email". Then they proceed to explain what the email is about... What is wrong with these people?

OH-MY-GOD... I hate it so much. I had a girl text me the other day saying check my e-mail. I then flipped out at her saying that I use IMAP on my computer and whenever I am near a computer I check my e-mail and it comes almost instantaneously. There is absolutely no reason to tell someone that they sent you an e-mail unless it's absolutely urgent.

EXACTLY

This person has also sometimes sent me the email, and then came by desk to say they sent me the email.

some times it security related, like "i sent you an e mail so it alright to open it, its not a virus or something"

but even that is extreme, and i see how it can be annoying to no end

I actually do that to people all the time...

I'll type up the official email and send it out, and I will call the people who need it "dumbed down" and let them know what's going on... Now they have direction from myself that I know they can understand, as well as a hard copy to place in their PST that they can go back to at any time if they need to refresh their memory...

I hate it when someone that sits right next to you, emails you to ask "What's for lunch?" or something like that. Are they really so removed from normal society that they forget they can just talk?

Well, since Outlook is crap and doesn't always show me the fact that I have email unless I switch to another folder, I don't really mind.

you do realize you are probably hated for this right? When you call, the other person has to stop what they are doing and pretend they care to what you have to say. They will probably not even be listening. Then they will delete the email.

Theres 2 times when I do that, either the email contains links that reading over the phone would have been rediculous or I typed and sent the email and then realized that the explanation in the email simply wasn't going to cut it. I suppose I would hate it if someone did that every single time, but otherwise, no doesn't bother me.

what's worse is when you send someone an email and they ring you and say 'I just got your email - what's it about?' 😕

Yesterday I got an email that JUST started to noitfy in Outlook - then the lady was already at my cube bugging me about it! GRRRR!

geek.

Doesn't really bother me unless somebody does it frivolously and all the time over trivial emails. I don't like the fact that some people consider email as an adequate substitute for actual real life face-to-face interaction. I don't consider somebody sending me an email about something to be adequate if it is of an important nature. They need to come and tell about it in person if it is urgent and they want immediate action. I don't even bother to check my email all the time for one reason or another so on some occasions I have had people come in and start talking about stuff and I'm like. . .'whoah slow down, what are you talking about?" And they are like, "didn't you get my email I just sent you?" I have my email set to check once every 30 minutes for new mail so . . .no, I didn't get your email that you sent 2 minutes ago. I guess in summation, I'd rather have the phone call or a face to face conversation than get an email. If you wanna send me an email in conjunction with talking to me so I will remember, then fine. But don't get all indignant because I don't treat email as a substitue for face to face interaction and you are inconvenienced because you are actually forced to come talk to me. I swear. . .some people are just sociopathic or something.

That's fine... There's a reason I have to call certain people... because they can't understand a simple email... 😀

Also - They can delete the email if they want too... But if that email explains a new procedure and they fail to comply in the future then we have a larger problem with that employee... and they can't say they were not informed...

Actually what is worse is when they send an email then also leave a voicemail with a full description. Or vice versa.
