I was waiting to get my tires replaced when he came into the waiting area. He gave the usual I'm so and so, and I'm selling blah blah for charity. I gave him a polite "No, I'm sorry but I'm not interested". He keeps on blabbering about the stuff he sells totally ignoring what I just said. I repeat 4 or 5 more times but he keeps on going. Finally I give him a stern No, I'm not interested and he stares back blankly and walks off.

He goes to another customer and starts the routine. I guess this guy just wanted him gone so he tosses a dollar and change to him. I thought he was going to ask everyone there but surprisingly he left after getting the donation.

I get really tired of the people trying to sell magazines so they can win a trip to Cancun or something. They're annoying, pushy, and just a nuisance. Thats why they get a quick, "what are you selling?", followed by an even quicker "sorry not interested" before having the door shut in their face.
 
I hate when they start babbling and I stop them and say I am not interested and their next response is "Why?". Get a clue and get out of my face.

I threatened to physicaly remove a Kirby vacuum cleaner salesman from my home once. My brilliant wife let the trashbag in while I was asleep. I wake up to the motherfscker running a sweeper.

"Who are you?"
"I'm here to tell you ab..."
"Get out."
"But..."
"Get out NOW."

That's the short version. The long version is pretty entertaining but I don't feel like typing it right now.

Basically, don't come to my house at 6pm on a Sunday evening to sell me something. If I want it, I'll call you.

 
A few years back I had a persistant problem with Jehovah witnesses coming to my door on a weekly basis,I kept telling them I was an athiest,this spurred them on even more,so one day I got fed up,I found and old white pillow case I was going to use as a rag,I cut the corner off,cut out two holes in it and splashed some red ink I had laying around on it,I then placed it next to my front door,sure enough they came calling on a saturday,I put the hood on,opened the door and said I was a little busy in the basement,can you come back at another time ?

Sure enough,they never paid me another visit again.

And then they're on to their next sale that much more quickly... if you really want to screw with them, let them run through the whole thing and waste plenty of time on you (if you've got nothing better to do, at least). Think of amusing, embarassing acts for them to commit in order to try to get you to buy a magazine. Then send them on their merry way. Now they've wasted 20 minutes or more, have nothing to show for it, and have that many less doors they can knock on before their car handler picks them up 😀

Yep. If you're actually dead-set against buying, being rude is the politest thing you can do to them. And being polite is the rudest thing. Personally, I get annoyed listening to incompentent sales hacks using the same tired old closes while eagerly thinking that the fact he has memorized them makes him skilled. They're like a bad infomercial. I'll just cut him off and quickly send him on his merry way to failure.

It's a catch 22 with some of these bastards, though. Some get pissed if you don't at least listen to them... others get pissed because you let them go on and on.

So basically I don't care. It's best for me to get them out of my face ASAP, so I cut them off. I was in various sales positions through college and it never bothered me how I was treated. If you're going to go into sales, you just need to come to terms with stuff like that.
 
My favorite tactic with sales people is to just start shouting random phrases till they leave:

"Hi, I'm here to tell you abo-"
"WE CHOOSE TO GO TO THE MOON"
"Um... Ok... Hey, would you lik-"
"WALK SOFTLY AND CARRY A BIG STICK"
"Umm, ok thank for your time sir"
"ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES"
*Sales person runs away*
 
I just ignore them after the first time I saw No. But I've turned peopl ein to amangers and had them kicked out before.

We were eating one time and a guy came in and handed us a note at our table. It was written that I'm so and so, I'm from here and there, I want money... blah blah blah.

We told him to get lost and saw him go to another table. So we went and told the manager about it and they kicked his sorry @ss out.

There is no catch-22. Of course you should act selfishly. Do anything else would only be spiteful. There is no benefit to you in wasting another's time, you're only wasting your own as well.
 
Not much hate, just awkward. There's usually Green Peace or Sick Kid's people waiting by the sidewalk on my usual route to and from school "selling" their charity. I obviously say I don't have time, but it gets awkward the fourth time I walk by them within 2 hours. The street usually clears out when I pass by.
