Do you hate macs?

The hardware is... Decently built. I appreciate the hardware. But the OS is absolute f'ing rubbish. System 7.5 was the pinnacle of Apple's operating system skillz. Everything since has been superfluous. OSX is a travesty - it's more the first OS that uses the computer for you than you using the computer. It's like an F-117. The computer does the flying, the pilot is along for the ride and to give it suggestions. But, of course, the F-117 NEEDS to be that way. There's no way it would work otherwise. But computers DO work otherwise.

I use a power Mac G5 (1.8ghz) on a daily basis, its slow as balls, my manager thought he upgraded to 1.5GB of ram but did not, thus the most likely cause of performance loss, but still if your OS needs more than 512mb of ram just to be reasonable DAMN. I cant stand the mouse either, I also think that a MAJOR flaw in the OS is the fact that when you click out side a window it suspends your program there IS NO FULL SCREEN MODE. I also find it annoying as balls to have to pull down a window in sifari just to get to the safari window behind it, and I cant alt tab to it (command tab) what ever.

Plug in another mouse.
Also the 'alt-tabbing' in OSX is actually superior to that of Windows; CMD+TAB to the program, then CMD+~ or CMD+SHIFT+~ (just like alt+shift+tab in Windows) to go to the appropriate window in your active application. The OS is very nice once you figure out all of the shortcuts and little quirks that it has. 🙂 I'd assume more ram would help you out, indeed.

I guess we havn't had a mac vs pc flamefest thread in a while.
Were about due.

Always remember, if something is so incredibly great that you can't help but have it, it would gain majority market share extremely quickly.

They suck because they're SLOW and TOO EXPENSIVE and there's NO GAMES for them. Also I remember they crashed like 10x an hour while poking along trying to load up web pages. It's not user friendly either because they blind you from what is really happening with a childish interface. Macs are WACK YO.

I just hate the mouse, personally.

you know that to use a mac you don't have to use the apple mouse and can use almost any USB mouse, right?

Actually, I think I did, but I never used one for work. God did I hate that mouse.

the RAM thing is probably true, but you can always use a 'regular' mouse and learn to use expose 🙂

I like 'em

As long as they are OS X and not OS 9 like half the comps at my school.

Only quip I have is that they are rather expensive, plus, not a lot of software that I like and use is made for it.

i do too, what the heck were they thinking? there could be so much power with only one hand but they chose to design a mouse with only one button. lol

yea do0d macs aer teh suxorz. teh mose is only 1 buton adn its chep and no go0d. tehere are no gams fro mac adn they are sl0w and tehy carsh on teh intarnet.

I work on a mac at work, and i gotta say, i can't wait to come home to my PC. Not cause i dislike the mac, but i'm just used to /like my windows rig better.

My Powerbook (1.5ghz G4, 1 gig ram, 128mb radeon 9700, it's plenty fast for me) is my main computer and I love it. I don't play games at all so that is not even an issue with me. I do a lot of work in Photoshop and Painter and I've used a pc for it as well and I can't say that one system is better than the other with it. I also have a bluetooth Logitech mouse with like 7 buttons for all of those who think you can only use a one button mouse. Hmm, I dunno. Don't knock it till you try it (and I mean spend more than an hour on it. OS X takes a little getting use to but it is very nice once you do).

I love my Mac.Everything I love about a *nix based box.( like open-source software). But easier to find hardware that works.

I've used them more recently than I ever have in the past.. hate them more than ever.. such a friggin waste of time.... the stupid G5's we have run like absolute junk, the design is lame, and they are completely overpriced. No idea what people see in this crap.

I've got a cube with a G4 450mhz processor and 512 megs of ram... and even though it's sluggish in a lot of my programs, I still like it a lot to experiment with...
