I don't hate them, but I'd never invest in the hardware commitment to buy a mac.

if there was an easy way I could install OS-X on my AMD64 box and dual-boot that with windows just to try it out, I'd consider it. but I hate the idea of being forced to buy everything from Apple.

Sounds like you have a lot of personal experience.

The slowest G4 was around 900MHz-1GHz. Mine is a Dual 1.25GHz. befor you mock something, make sure you know what you are talking about.

Anyways, I work on Macs for video editing and they are really good for that. But at the end of the day I can't wait to get home to my Windows computer!

Not true, even thought I admire you "defending" them.

G4s were made at least as slow as 400, maybe even 350.

Wrong, the slowest G4's were actually ~450 Mhz, I would know since I have one. That said, SuperTyphoon is wong about the OS. After using OS X 10.3 I would have to say that is an excellent OS; better than Linux and Windows in some ways, and worse in others.

I certainly don't hate them, but as far as what I use a computer for, I can't be bothered getting another mac for my main computer.

QFS (Quoted for shizzle)

I actually broke down and bought an iBook G4. It was 650Mhz.
Hated it so much I requested an RMA 8 hours after I got it. The only good thing I can say about Apple is they have a great return department.

I use a power Mac G5 (1.8ghz) on a daily basis, its slow as balls, my manager thought he upgraded to 1.5GB of ram but did not, thus the most likely cause of performance loss, but still if your OS needs more than 512mb of ram just to be reasonable DAMN. I cant stand the mouse either, I also think that a MAJOR flaw in the OS is the fact that when you click out side a window it suspends your program there IS NO FULL SCREEN MODE. I also find it annoying as balls to have to pull down a window in sifari just to get to the safari window behind it, and I cant alt tab to it (command tab) what ever.

OS X looks really nice (unix based too) but I'd rather have windows because it's more compatible with what I use/do

My bad. When I think Mac I think of the PowerMac's, I always forget about their other line of computers. I can see a Imac having a CPU that slow.

sorry, i meant powerpc 3 processors. still, they have reached 5.8 ghz and atlon 64 fx-57 and they are still on 900 mhz g4 processors. i am using a 400mhz g3 now.

WTF are you on about? I can't see a single 5.8Ghz processor on any shelves near me.

I have no use for a Mac, but each to their own.
