No really, it's a lame way of saying hello to someone. People even say it to strangers. I think &quot;Hello, how are you&quot; or just &quot;hello&quot; is is much nicer. People will respond in a more postive way to you when you use something other than what's up?

A friend of mind from Brooklyn always calls me and as soon as I say hello, he's like &quot;Yo! 'Sup Kid.&quot; I'd smack him if I could, then again he didn't like that I used to say &quot;hella&quot; all the time. He didn't like it when I would &quot;bail&quot; instead of leave or &quot;late&quot; instead of bye either. What can I say though, I did grow up in California.
