I'll usually reply all and make fun of the original sender and that'll usually clear up the problem.

Not entirely true to the OP, but has been mentioned here - a couple of times in college, some nitwit in the admin would send out messages using cc: fields to a metric assload of students. Then it starts with the Reply To All dicks, and your inbox didn't settle for a couple of days.

My 70 yo mom and my wife's 70yo dad do this. I delete my mom's. My wife used to just delete her dad's until he started complaining that she never replies to his mail. He was reading them, it would remind him of something, and he would write some long letter in it. Early Alzheimers FTL. :(
