I was just curious if anyone here uses the cd drive to soundcard audio cable. Does it have any more use or is it obsolete? Does using the cable allow for faster/more accurate cd ripping?

I don't use it. I don't think it's supposed to make any difference in cd ripping. I thought it was just so you could plug headphones into your drive to listen to the CD that is currently in it. However, even if you don't use the cable, you could enable "Digital CD Audio" in the device manager.

I have plugged it on machines, and I have not, if I have a cable around when I build one, I'll put it in, otherwise...meh

It's effectively obsolete. All soundcards these days support digital audio extraction (DAE).

Hi, Don't use it if it works without it. Audio cable is so you can hear Audio CDs play through your Sound Card/ Speakers. Earphones work directly from the drive, so never used the Audio cable. Jim
