You didn't answer the question.. Try the heater with it on recirculate and then try it with it on non recirculate..

my car doesnt have an option to recirculate air when it on the heater, it draws the air from the outside on heater. the only time it'll recirculate the air is when i turn it to the a/c

Amazing ain't it? You know what's also amazing? Those El Pollo Loco bowls that you can get in the freezer section at Costco! They're only like $2 a bowl and when you mix it with rice, you can probably get at least two meals out of just one bowl!

I thought you had to be 18 to get a Costco membership

VWs are like this, you can select recirculate but it will draw a 50/50 mixture rather than 25/50 mixture of inside to outside air.

Modern "recirc" modes still draw outside air in to alleviate CO2 buildup/ driver fatigue in the cabin.

BTW, if you coat your car with mayonnaise you can get 1 more MPG. I saw it on the internet.

/fleabag furiously searches the internet for cars that dont have the recirc option when heating/

fyi - the advice from Fleabag to spray your vehicle with a vinegar/water solution to prevent icing will only freeze
Did you actually test that? It was someone else's advice that I'm regurgitating and since I've never tested it, I can't confirm the efficacy of it. With that said, I was trying to illustrate the point that one can defrost something without using a defroster and that a defroster is more of a convenience item than anything else.

(With chin thrusted forward, pitch increased to match a young child) my mommy takes me there.

While the concentration of vinegar affects its freezing point for normal vinegar you'd use in the kitchen it will freeze solid just a few degrees below the freezing point of normal water. If you try and spray a mist of it on your windshield of a cold car (it doesn't take long for a car in sub-zero weather to get down past freezing) it will probably freeze as soon as it hits.

It MIGHT help if you're only dealing with a little bit of frost because the temperature dips below freezing overnight but is above freezing during the day.

No, it's not. It's there to quickly clear the windshield. Sure, having the blower set to floor will clear the windshield, but not as fast or as efficiently as the defroster.

I like the way you try to inject humor into this thread to cover all the fail you spewed! WTG!!!!

It's only been explained to you like 110 times in this thread it's damm near IMPOSSIBLE to loosed a "1/2 ice layer on your windshield without a working defroster but since you've never had to deal with any scenario like that you stupid ass can't understand. AC is a convenience, defrosters are a necessity..

So, instead of believing any of us, you decided to google and find some unproven concoction and post it to back-up your lame claims? Pathetic.

And if you did a little more research, you would have learned that vinegar has a freezing point of 28F then dilute it with 3 parts water and you would have realized that you shouldn't post such FUD here.

Yeah, but how many times does he have to explain to us, his dad warmed up a truck. Where was this you ask? Lake Tahoe. In winter.

Don't knock it until you've tried it! My guess is, it'd probably freeze in a few places but aside from that, you can just chip off the ICE there and the pull off the cardboard..

🙁

This is just too funny

Cold weather coolant temp data:

*Snip*

So, both engines were rapidly on their way to their normal operating temp in just a few minutes. Both produced hot air quickly. Neither engine's coolant temp went down when the heater was turned on full. In fact, the coolant temp continued to rise.

The question is why didn't fleabag do this himself, video it then post the results on youtube, since he too has a super gauge that can read OBDII...?

I think you can work it out 😉

I had mcdonalds fries at the JFK airport on thursday. They were awesome.

I see the complete breakdown of this thread as a neccesary step towards it's eventual death. I'll summarize.

-Leave a starter in your vehicle. It may increase the value of the vehicle on resale. The money spent removing and reinstalling a remote starter is essentially equal to buying a new one.
-Fleabag knows zero about cars and is furiously digging a hole his reputation on this forum will never be able to climb out of.
-Fleabag sucks at math.
-McDonalds is good.

We already knew that from his posts in the garage subforum...

Technically "pure vinegar" has a freezing point of 62 degrees F... just so you know 🙂

Posting in an epic thread. I stopped reading when Fleabag said that a defroster doesn't actually defrost ice on the outside of the windshield. What an idiot.
