We are having this discussion over at the UT2K4 forums and they think a 9 hour gaming marathon is weak. These guys game for 15+ hours at lan tournaments easily! :Q
So I guess 9 hours is over doing it, but 15+ hours of gaming goodness?
My absolute worse was the release of the original Baldurs Gate. I gamed for 26 hours straight before collapsing
But the original Diablo probably consumed my life more than any other game ever released. 9 hours really was a pretty short span of time to play that game.
But, now that I have a full time job & life my gaming is cut down to a few hours here and there.
On days where i feel lazy i top out at 2 games of TOB max which is about 2 hours and under. Typically its just 1 game. I think those guys doing 15hrs a day are pretty pathetic.
Back in high school, I would on occasion pull an all nighter or a full day on a new RPG during a weekend or summer vacation. Don't think I've come anywhere near that since I graduated high school. I play Civ3 on occasion for up to 4 hours in a session on weekends.
I used to be real bad about playing Civ I and II. I'd start playing and the next thing I knew, it was 4 or 5 am. Now a days, I'm lucky to get in two hours a week.
Not in a while, it happened here & there when I used to play EQ It's a bit pathetic, yes - but then so is denying yourself all worldly pleasure. I don't get people who live to work. We have ~75 years here, I want to enjoy mine as much as I can.
My friend throws a lan once in a while at his house. We once crammed i think 13 people in the basement and played from noon til noon. 24hrs > their weak 15 and it was crappy games like CS, SC, and Q3! :Q
When games come in mind, i think of the amazing feat i accomplished when i completed metal gear solid 2. Spent all day on it, i think it was about 6 hours. Thats quite a amazing feat considering i have a tendency not to finish my games . Yep, thats the closest i've come to a "gaming marathon".
