Do you guys o/c your 6800GT ?

I expect I will, just I've done with previous cards. Thing is, my 6800GT is such a big performance boost over my 9800p I don't feel I need to OC it yet.

When the next new game I get makes my card struggle, up she'll go. I should mention I'm presently stuck with a crappy 17" monitor, so I have to play at 11 x 8 to get a decent refresh rate. I just can't stand 60hz, which is all this crappy monitir can do above 11 x8.

I haven't OCed my Leadtek yet, but I'm sure I have headroom on it to do so. My buddy GFT(GeForceTony) has his XFX at a solid 375/1035 for a mild performance boost. He also has much more headroom as he's got an NVSilencer.

I just haven't felt the need to OC as the boost over my old GF 4 4800 SE was so tremendous. And I can play anything I want at 12x10 with AA/AF and high settings very nicely. An occasional hiccup because of my K7, but not bad at all.

When i first got mine, i did, but i set it back to stock since i really can't tell the difference.

When newer more demanding games come out, i may OC it again to provide better performance, but for now it's not necessary since my monitor just does 12x10.

I have a 6800gt and mine will only overclock to 380/1015. If I try to move the core or memory past that it "fails the test."

When I first got it I did. But my card wasnt an overclocking champ(380/1.16). And since there hasnt been a game the card hasnt chewed up there isnt a need to overclock. I run it at stock now just simply because I dropped 400 bucks on it and want the thing to last.

Elementary question I know. When y'all overclock your video cards do you overclock both the 2d and 3d settings? I started playing Doom 3 again. Anyone having problems using an overclocked card in that game. Thanks.

i have, because i was curious to find the max it would get to (420/1.13) but as of now, with a 19" lcd restricting me to 1280x1024, i have no need to overclock as stock runs anything fine.

Same here. That is why I never even thought about upgrading to an Ultra.

why does that not seem right? ur telling me under full load it goes up 8c? guess u have some nice cooling.. oh well most ppl i see idle at 54 or so and usually load at close to 80

My PNY 6800GT OC'ed to 442/1150 totally stable. I ran into an awesome deal for a BFG 6800 Ultra so I took it and sold the GT. What a mistake. The BFG Ultra may OC to 470/1250 but mine was not stable in demanding games over 450/1200. The difference in 3DMark05 scores between 442/1150 and 450/1200 is 5672 and 5785. The performance increase was not worth $75-$100. The Ultra does run alot cooler though(59C vs. 48C idle).

I have my BFG 6800GTOC OC'd to 400/1100, which is 6800Ultra level, but I'm sure it can go further (temps stay under 70 load all the time). 6800GTs were made to be OC'd, I'm surprised you haven't yet 🙂

I wish there was a tool for NVidia like ATI Tool that would automatically find you max core and mem settings.
I know there is an option in the driver panel to Detect Optimal Frequencies but it set my PNY 6800GT to 391/1.08. I really don't feel like doing the manual overclock routine.

Acanthus , NO you didnt, Nvidia speced Ultra as min of 400core and 1000memory partly to fool ATI at prelaunch (been backed up by UK PR Manager Adrian on phone to me while back about broken PvP).

BFG bullsh1t about being 10% o/c out box as then you could claim all card are o/c as ram is 1100 on all but 1 ive seen and it was real early one that had 400/1000

You get 400/1100 and msot good makes are 425/1100, not claiming 10% o/c.

So yes sure you have Ultra specs there and if you hit 450/1200, that min from Nvidia to be classed as a Ultra E, ir un now 465/1230 stable with a real Ultra, i can do with normal bios and cooling + addition of artic silver 5 / ceramic inplace of the factory's cloth thermal material (never seen before normally its wax kind and cheap goo on core, it had goo on core (which was brick hard, but had this white cloth material on ram and volts mosfets)

I have however flashed tit he GTU bios (GT modded) as of memory timmings and get 300 odd gain in 3D Mark 2005 at same 1.4v, i think default is 1.37v-1.4v on Ultra)
