Do you guys hunt for software?

I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problem I do. I hunt for software. I can't stand having the same set of software all the damn time. I threw out deadaim and AIM for Gaim. Winamp went the way of the dodo a long time ago. realplayer was nixed before it had a chance to scream. WMP is toast. IE is dead.

The reason I ask is because people will log into my machine and wonder...where did all the apps go? When I show them where they went, they think me crazy for not using IE or winamp like most other people.

Am I the only one who does this?

I Soviet Russia, software hunts (for) you.

It was a ripe opening and I couldn't help it. 😛

Haha 😀

Try QCD for your audio player. Built-in auto-tagging means you'll never use anything else. 🙂

No, once I find something that works the way I want it to I usually stick with it. I'd rather read a book, play a game, or watch a DVD than fiddle with installing new software just for variety's sake.

Of course I write Windows software all day, that could be why I lack a hunger for more of it 🙂

When does the season open? Got any tasty recipes? I've never been software hunting but I'm willing to give it a try.

it's kinda like bear huntin....except indoors...and the software...it's like a small bear...that doesn't move....or hide....and once you hit it with the shotgun...you really can't hang the carcass on the wall...and taxidermists won't touch it.

As for QCD....I tried it and then I found JetAudio which I like much better. Built in filetype conversions, alarm/timer systems, multiple format audio recording, and the fact that jetaudio will play RealMedia files WITHOUT realone player easily makes up for autotagging.

Wahahahah! I was gonna do the whole 30-06/12 gauge shotgun joke thing...but everyone beat me to it.

Dude, WAREZ went out a long time ago. The RIAA and their ilk have made it so it's just not worth it anymore...also, nothing beats having an orginal, paid for by you disc w/a serial number stamped on it in your case. 🙂

So....what were you asking again? 😛

See, I lost the urge to be "cool" like that a long time ago. I've used winamp for my mp3's for years and I don't see that changing any time soon. I use Windows Media Player all the time for video files (although on occasion I'll use Media Player Classic) and up until recently I used Outlook Express for e-mail (I've just switched to Mozilla).

I'm of the mentality that if it ain't broke don't fix it. If I've got a program that does what I want and it works well, then I see no reason to replace it.

i dont know wat you are talking about but warez is far from out.
What software have you pirated recently?

browse the web. visit other forums.

It has nothing to do with being cool or whatever you guys like to make up. Warez is still very huge. There's no riaa to discourage such behavior.

Take your head out of the sand boy.

Not really, IE shows most pages perfectly (any pages that don't work are the programmers fault and not the browsers), iTunes has great mp3 management, Winamp is good for those random mp3s, Zoom Player plays all my video files perfectly, Outlook 2000 is great for email management, AIM is stable and never needs tweaking, etc.
