My WIN10 lock method is a pin, so yes, multiple times a day.

Or done data entry before.
While in HS, I worked for Chemical Bank doing data entry of digitally-imaged checks. It was 8 hours straight of typing in the amount 1 check after another where we didn't even have to hit enter between each one. Went as fast as 3 or 4 checks per second.

When I was programming, all the time. Now mostly to access alt codes…
Can't enter some characters without a numberic keyboard, such as "¢" (ALT 0162). Just doesn't work with those above the alpha.

Curious as to why the numbers are in a different order vs. a phone?

You could really confuse someone by changing the keys on a keyboard

You reminded me I used to wonder about that, decades ago, back in the days of calculators and early button-phones, but then forgot all about it. Now, in this internet era I can google it!

OK I googled it, found an explanation, but it was too boring to read through and I realised I don't really care enough to wade through it.

I guess I'll never know.

obviously I can see its uses...but that shit is taking up 2 inches on my keyboard and desk real estate.
I thought about replacing mine with one with MX cherry switches, i never had a mechanical but they sell them all the time without the keypad. I can agree how wasteful it feels having it there.

Back in the 80/early 90 when many games were control by number pal.....yes I can still use # pad faster than most people. And yes I use it everyday.

Of course, im a dispatcher, entering numbers is probably half my job and the number pad is easily twice or three times faster for this.

There was a plastic addon that turns your numpad into joystick.
