Mark Twain didn't know shit about fruits and vegetables. Papaya is the king of all fruits, follow closely by Durian.

I'm ok with watermelons. I actually like them with seeds. Seedless watermelons are like boneless wings and ribs, they take away all the flavor.

The sweetness is to encourage animals to eat them and poop their seeds. With no seeds the plant has little reason to taste good.

Watermelon is meh. Never liked it. Weak flavor and once you suck the water out there's immediately a dry crispy foam in your mouth.

I like watermelons, but only the ones I grow myself (or grown locally). This actually applies to most fruits and veggies. The watermelons at the super market are mostly bland. Sometimes I luck out with a good flavorful one, but not often.

But that is, of course, if I'm lucky enough to get watermelon to properly grow. I had a couple two years ago that tasted awesome... none grew last year (drought), and nothing seems to be growing this year, although I have a shit ton of cucumbers.

I prefer peaches and nectarines to watermelon. One of best parts about living in California, an endless supply of cheap and awesome tasting fruits in the summer.

I like the ones with seed. I missed the 12-15kg oblong ones

we would water cool the whole thing.

I don't think I've ever had a 30 pound watermelon...I've seen some pretty big ones, but 30 pounds? That would be HUGE!

Okay, is there any scientific proof that seeded watermelons taste sweeter?

I'm not a big fruit person, but GF made me pick up a seedless one on sale. HOLY SHIT, this one was SO SO ripe. Red all around, center was a burning red.

IT WAS SO SWEET, IT TASTED LIKE CANDY

Google and the intarweb says watermelon with seeds indeed tastes much better than seedless. Searching for double blind tests now.

I have a MAD sweet tooth like totally insane and I am telling you the seedless I get are sweet as all hell, if they were sweeter they would not taste good. Whether the flavor is as intense I don't know but they are very sweet.
