I always put mine on there, I can't imagine not.
social security numbers were just supposed be for the government to keep track of our earnings and for the social security program. now too many other agencies use it as a tracking number.

i refuse to put my soc sec # on anything except my tax returns. most of the time i get no guff when i leave the line blank.

Social security numbers were created at a time when there was much less need to uniquely identify a person than there is today, and today there is no better unique identifier in this country.

Um... I thought SSN was how they pulled your credit. If you're applying for credit and they can't see your credit history I doubt you will get approved.

Lifelock does nothing but put a fraud alert on your credit reports.

Something you can do yourself for free.

The fraud alert stops promo mailings and requires creditors to verify shit with you.

Lifelock is a scam.

Yep. This is mostly true.

Opt-out (like from promos) was part of GLBA 1999. Call 888-OPT-OUT5 to prevent creditors from "pre-screens" or "soft pulls" of your credit.

Fraud alerts were part of FACTA 2003. If you register for such alerts, creditors have to call you at the phone # you designate and verify your identity prior to fulfilling any credit offers.
