no sick/vacation time at my last job... didn't work, didn't get paid.

that was my very first job out of college, though. nowadays, I enjoy my 3 weeks vacation + 1 week of sick days every year.

I agree. It would be better if the general consensus amongst employers is that this sort of nonsense is not the norm and shouldn't be treated as such.

No sick time, when I am sick I don't come to work. When I don't feel good at work, I just go home. If I am sick and can't complete work on time then I'll let my boss know.... no big deal... it's an honesty system I guess.

No sick leave. No vacation. A few holidays. I can request time off, but i wont get paid for any sick or holiday time, and i get a huge gripe from my boss.

I get 104 hrs of sick leave a year that can be built up without a limit and 208 hrs annual leave (vacation) a year with a 240 hr cap.

Sick leave, vacation leave, holiday leave, jury duty leave, bereavement leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, "personal time" leave, and probably some other leaves I can't remember right now.

There are some advantages to working for a non-profit.

our company tried this with 6 sick occurances per year. You basically could be sick up to 5 days each time (then company short term disability kicked in).

a majority of the company sadly used 30 days sick time per year. Oddly when they changed this to 6 sick days and a better short term disability benefit sick time dropped to 6 days per year.

The other server guy is at Ranger and Army training for 5 months. He'll be back in August. Once he's back then there are two of us again.

I do get to take time off so long as I let them know in advance and it won't set back any projects. Once the other guy is back it won't be a big deal.

As for what I make, I have only 2 years of experience and seem to be about middle range for my experience and skill set.
