Do you get gifts for your friends?

Watching the Big Bang Theory, Penny got everyone gifts. Do you get gifts for your friends?

"All I need is an ovum and I can grow my own Leonard Nimoy!"

Not really. My best buddy is an artist, so he occasionally makes me a hand-made gift...which makes me feel crappy because I didn't get him anything. Some people do Secret Santa, though.

I got a gift for my best bud and his girlfriend. I got him a Logitech Harmony 520 and her an HP 3.5" digital photo frame.

The few people who matter to me, yes. Doesn't have to be worth very much, just has to be meaningful. I like to put a lot of thought into it so that I can see a genuine reaction.

I'll try and send at least a card...nothing too big though.

But Big Bang Theory - When the girl gave the napkin - I haven't laughed that hard at TV in a while. That show just keeps getting better 😀

Not usually. 1) I suck at buying useful gifts for people.
2) I don't want to waste money on something that people are just going to throw away, like when I get 4 calendars for Christmas. I really don't even need one.
3) If I do get a useful gift, it's probably something boring. One year, after my sister's "quick" battery charger killed 3 NiMH AAs, I bought her a nice Maha 401FS charger (4 independent channels) and some Eneloop AAs. That was a birthday present though. Sure, she uses them, and the Eneloops don't go dead if her digital camera sits for a few weeks unused, but it's not really a "fun" present.

Gifts for me......my parents kind of gave up several years ago and just give me cash. If I would ask for something, it would be so specific that I might as well just buy it myself, since they wouldn't know what to look for.
16V 1000uF capacitor
100k 1/4W resistors
2N3904 transistors
.......
or some specific computer component. They figured it would be easier to let me buy what I wanted. I didn't complain. 🙂

Money: It's like a gift card, only better. It has no set expiration date (besides what inflation does to it), and it's usable at any store.

They don't usually ask for anything in return, since more stuff is just more clutter laying around the house. Nowadays, it's more like, "Call home and send a picture."

Yes. I exchange Christmas gifts with four best friends. We don't do gifts on birthdays though, only a card, and a night out.

i suppose i would if i had a bunch of extra money at this time of year

i'm STRUGGLING (said in the drunk Joe Namath voice) to buy gifts for my family and wife :Q

my friends and I used to for birthday's (never for christmas)... but it got annoying quick, so many birthday's towards the end of the year.

now we all just have an agreement, no gifts for birthdays. we usually just go out instead.
