Do you get extremely sad when a good co-worker friend leaves or gets fired?

I'm so sad right now. Don't know what to do. When I got to work today, they told me the news. He was one of the only people that I could talk with about anything at work. Now it just seems boring and I feel like quitting and going to college full-time. Just an awful day. I will really miss him.

Do you ever feel like that?

Nah, his attendence wasn't top notch to say the least. But he was the best employee we had. Or at least one of the best. Basically, after telling him a few times, he was still late. And therefore, he is done. I will try to talk to the bosses tomorrow to see what I can do.

No, people come and go all the time in the military. When one dies, thats different. Only had that happen once so far.

dunno how hot of an idea that is.

i mean, one of my friends was fired from work and my boss could tell that i was visibly upset. we talked about it once and i told him that it sucked but he said that's just the way things are. its not a very good idea for you to "see what you can do." you can talk to your bosses to get a better idea of why they fired him, etc., but i wouldn't push them to do anything about it.

im sure your friend will find something better, esp. if he was one of the best workers at your company. my friend found another job doing something he really wanted to do and where he wanted to be. you can help your friend out by being a really good reference for his interviews (thats what i did).

That is exactly what my other co-workers have told me. To play it safe. I'll just ask the boss what was the exact reason etc, if that is possible. I'll just nod and move on. No need to get on the bad side I guess. But still, I want to put in a good word for him because I don't think he was appreciated for all the hard work he did.

****** happens. the cast may change, but life goes on...
Unless you want to follow him, don't get too involved in someone else's misfortunes.

My fiancee goes through this a lot. Hes a photojournalist and he makes friends with the new guy in the revolving chair at the sports desk and within the year they all leave. They hate the small town and want out.

Don't question your boss. No good can come of that. Especially over attendance. Unfortionately being on time is one of the golden rules when it comes to employment.
