Do you get depressed/sad/lonely if you are alone in your apt?

Lately, when I am in my apt for long without anyone else around (roommate on business) I get kind of lonely.

I used to live with 4 ppl, so there was always someone around...

Anyone else (esp recent college grads) feel similar?

At first it would happen if I were alone for a long time, but eventually my personality righted itself and I realized how nice it could be. 😛

Yeah, I do sometimes. I've lived here for a little over a year after graduating and don't know anyone outside of work and that's a small company so not much in the way of people to do stuff with there. This area is very heavily skewed towards older and retired people - I think only 6% of the population is in the 18-25 bracket so there's very few people to do stuff with, period.

Much prefer to be alone than sharing with roomates. There's always something to do on the computer / network to keep me entertained while not at work.

I had the apartment to myself for 6 weeks during the summer. At first I got a little lonely but I later realized how nice it was. The privacy is great!

I don't mind hanging out alone for a while, but no human contact for over 1 day makes me antsy and I will usually head home to visit or hang with buddies.

most of the time, I like the privacy. Even if i'm alone, I don't feel depressed or lonely (so many sites to see so many movies to watch)

Yup, I just moved into a studio and it is downright depressing when I'm there by myself. It wouldn't be so bad if I had internet access, but I don't get that until Thursday. I'm a very social person and am used to living in a suite of 6 people so this living on my own thing is weird. Luckily my girlfriend lives a mile down the road so I go over there a lot.

That would drive me up the freakin' wall. I'd probably never be home until at least you got internet access or a roommate. I'd bring my laptop to the nearest internet cafe 😉

I've lived alone for years and like it. That said, when I was stationed in Oklahoma I had my car stolen on a Friday morning, and, as luck would have it, my cable modem went out for the entire weekend, so I was stuck at home alone with no Internet (it was too snowy to ride my bike anywhere). That did kinda suck. Actually, as I look at the date I joined here, that was within a week of my car being stolen IIRC.

I might if I actually lived in an apartment. The idea of that is very depressing as it is...Although the idea of being alone...PEACE & QUIET...has it's appeal...

I'll let you know after a few months in my new place. But I think I'm one of those people who prefer being left alone.
