Do you get Columbus day off?

I work for a defense contractor at the local army post and we don't get Columbus day off. Over 3/4 of the staff where I work is GS (government) employees, so they do get the day off. Basically that means we'll have over 3/4 of our staff gone, which ultimately means we can't do our jobs because so many people will be gone.

So, basically... I'll be sitting around doing nothing all day. What a waste of money...

How bout you?

i think its only a bank holiday, school rolls on though

and state workers too. here in CA they get cesar chavez day off too. pretty sweet deal, thanx grey!

still have school, and i work in retail...so nope. 🙁

and fix the title of the thread or the poll please, the 2 questions are opposites, and got me 😕🙁

Meh, I volunteer for most of that. I don't have any family in the area. There's no reason to deprive others of being with their families so that I can sit at home and watch TV.

Besides, I can sit here and watch TV. I'm just here incase of some massive breakdown or national/civil emergency.

Meh. It seems like it's the right thing to do.

No, I don't get double time per-se, but I get an 8-hour comp day.

I do not get today off. However, instead we get day-after-Thanksgiving-Day off. That's a pretty sweet deal since it's always a Friday...can get up at the butt crack of dawn just to go shopping. Best Buy at 6AM? w00t!
