Do you generally know how many miles you can drive between fill-ups?

I end up filling up around 320 in the summer although I can push it to 350/360 unless i've hammered it the whole tank. Winter it's more like 300 2007Ranger v6

Probably around 320-350 miles on my VW Golf. But I recently had to replace a burnt out fuel pump (costing me $500), so now I am slightly paranoid about getting the gas tank too low, so I fill it up before 250 miles, and usually before that at around half a tank (~160 miles or so).
I also keep tabs of my mileage at each fill up, just seems like a good thing to know.

Range on my Cavalier is usually 275 - 37450 miles if I do city driving only on the tank. I think it's a 12 gallon tank, so yeah my gas mileage isn't very good.

About 250 with my older V8 SUV commuting daily. If on a long trip, close to 350 these days. I hit 400 once when the car was almost new.

15.9 gallon tank according to Subaru
fuel light comes on with 2.3 gallons left
Usually I fill up between 13 and 13.5 gallons, just before the fuel light were to come on. Fuel Pump supposedly won't completely drain the tank ... meaning it'll sputter/die before it's bone dry.... however, I've never tested that out.

Usually I fill up around 330-350 miles. If it's all highway driving then I usually fill up around 350-375 miles. My normal commute is a mix of about 1/2 rural and 1/2 suburban waiting at red traffic lights....

The TDI has an exhaust particulate filter and you REALLY need to nail it and give a very heavy load to the engine to make it smoke. Otherwise, under 95% of conditions it doesn't smoke.

This diesel engine is also quiet. I've taken people for rides and they didn;t beleive me when I told them it was diesel underhood. Normally you expect the exhaust noise and diesel engine clatter of a pickup truck or semi.

Yeah the price of diesel is more expensive than gasoline, but the greater fuel economy combined with a diesel's durability and longevity vs a gasoline plus the fact I don't have to lug around batteries like a hybrid that need replacing after a few years, I think I'll come out on top.

What year is your TDI? Do you have to put the urea in a separate tank?

I have a 00 Jetta VR6 and can go about 320 miles on a tank. I think its around 14-15 gallons.

Only the vaguest conception. I think I used to keep track when I first started driving because it was mildly interesting, but at this point it's really of no significant consequence... gas dialy thing gets lowish, stick more fuel in the hole.

I'm surprised how many people keep such good track. Other than those with a busted gas gauge, do you actually do anything meaningful with this information?

There are a lot of good reasons to track mileage. One of the best is if it falls it's a good sign something is not working right in your vehicle.

I throw it all in a spreadsheet as in the past I did a lot of self-employment work in the past so being able to track mileage and prove I was tracking it was beneficial.

My car has a display with the estimate. Usually says "380 miles to E" after fill-up. I usually fill it up when it's at 70 miles to empty. So I get ~300 miles between fill-ups.

Also displays miles per gallon; my average mpg is 25, though I can do higher for trips where it's mostly highway.

Easy, 10 miles per gallon, 16 gallons per tank.
160 miles per tank.

In my piece of shit S-10 anyway, my new Murano gets MUCH better mileage. The silly little onboard computer predicts 300 milles per tank, but I havent seen that in practice.

About 250 miles full tank (13 gallons) if I'm lucky. But work is only 2 miles away and I don't usually drive far, perhaps once in a while.

Sisters 2009 Honda CRV shows on the dashboard panel about 16.5 mpg when I drive it.
