Didn't gain any weight.

DEFINITELY not in as good shape as I was.

Between the commute and the longer-than-9-hours-a-day work day, easily half your day, EVERY day, is gone when working full-time. And you still have to sleep and eat...

I've gained about 15-20 pounds since I started working full-time and got married, but I was a little on the skinny side before, so now I'm about normal. Lifting weights, regular exercise and a good diet helps, though :)

I'm not totally in agreement with the whole Atkins thing, but there is one very strong point to it that he took to an extreme. If you're sitting around a lot, watch your carbohydrate intake. You don't need much. Try to eat less bread and other such starchy things, and more than anything, cut out sugar. Just cutting out crap like high fructose corn syrup (i.e. soda) can really help.

More vegetables, more fiber, you get it. Try to exercise when you can. I don't have a lot of difficulty making myself exercise anymore, because it is my antidepressant. I am one that tends to feel depressed for no reason I can understand, simply due to an imbalance of chemicals, and exercise naturally balances those chemicals out. I didn't believe it when I was told so, but it's seriously amazing how much of a difference it makes. And running for 30-60 minutes late at night when there's nobody around and it's totally quiet = awesome.

It seems I'm allergic to both. Haven't gained weight once in my life, haven't worked in a my excellent compatriot's age. The no work issue seems to balance out the weight gain issue I guess.

This is why I'm continuing to drop a few pounds before I start working. I also stopped maxing out on my weight reps. No point in building muscle if I won't have as much time to maintain it when I start work. Accounting industry sucks at the moment. :/

the reasoning is more like you are so tired after the day all you want to do is get home, eat, sit down on the couch, watch tv and sleep. no exercise

My job involves standing for 10-12 hours a day, walking back and forth in a store. Doesn't sound that hard, but you'd be surprised how many calories it burns off. I try to do cardio for 30 minutes 3 times a week, 10 minutes every day, and do some solid weight training everyday as well (little in the morning and little at night). I keep up with my vitamins, and try to keep my diet clean as well. I'm definitely feeling in a lot better shape than I was last fall, so I'm happy.

When I first got my corporate desk job after graduating college, I gained about 30 pounds in the first year. Couldn't fit into none of my pants, suits, etc.

After quitting and working at various construction related jobs, I lost 50 pounds in the first six months.

I've sure method for fat people to lose weight. Get off your fat ass and do some manual labor. I guarantee you will lose lot of weight and dieting isn't required.

I gained a lot when I started working at a telecom. I've starting to lose the weight though.
