I just dropped a piece of bread (not a slice, a PIECE) off the kitchen tile and picked it up within 2 seconds and ate it (I remember that the floor was cleaned today, too)

Do you guys follow the rule?

People that follow those things strictly are dumb. Ooo, if it's there for 4 seconds instead of 3 it's poison!!!! Pfft, if it's not there too long and I don't really take my eyes off of it, then I'll probably eat it...if it's a "dry" food.

Depends on what it is, and what it is droped on. Kitchen floors are cool, but outside or in the dirt..... or even carpet, nah.

Depends on the food. If it's dry food, yeah. If not, then it must go. The exceptions are ribeye steaks and salmon. I'll eat those no matter what. :p

Sure, it's probably only 3 seconds for you civilians. In this family it's 30 seconds. For a marine it's 30 days and it can still be moving.

Three seconds after a girl acknowledges my presence, if I find her attractive I will approach her with an opening line like, "hey (or hi), I need a feminine opinion on something..., i'm having an discussion with my friend... who do you think lies more, men or women"

Works every time.

That's the only 3 second rule ATOT should worry about applying. No hesistation = confidence.

Once I dropped a can of soup on the floor and it spilled all over.. I still scooped it all up and cooked and ate it.

THere was a scientific experiment to try and see if the 3-second rule had any plausibility, and it is ture to a certian extent as you will ten to pick up less bacteria if you pull whatever you dropped on the floor quickly. Now I said "less" not " you will not pick up any" . I forget where this research was mentioned, i think it was carried out at one of those "im a terribly smart teenager" schools.

well if you cooked it to a biol for about 10min you will denature most protiens and kill most organisms so its not really that hard-core

I ate it anyway, the floor was clean.
