very well said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I cop makes no additional money for handing out more tickets.

Furthermore, if a cop actually gets you with a ticket it is much more likely the person would think twice about speeding now again for a while until he can get the ticket off his record w/ driving school. For if he gets another one too early, you can't avoid insurance with drivers school anymore. (Well at least thats how it is in California.) It will encourage the person to drive slower even w/o the presence of a cop there. However, I don't doubt they don't enjoy handing em out once in a while.

I don't see how the cop is the jerk, as hes not the one breaking the law but rather enforcing it. If people stopped speeding and breaking the law there would be less need for traffic cops. I got a ticket before. Guilty as charged. I paid up and continued my business instead claiming I was a victim of big bad cop.

Or perhaps the speed limits should be raised, instead? I never see cops where speeding is a danger. I always see them though where it's safe to speed (and thus a lot of people do so, and thus that means a lot of revenue for the cops!)

Of course! And if I see a robbery/rape/murder in progress I always stand on the lookout for them and give them a ride to help them escape! Breaking the law is cool, and we should help eachother do it as often as possible!

Yes, because we ALL know that speeding is equivalent to rape and murder!

However, if you are travelling the 65MPH speed limit while the bulk of traffic is going 75-80MPH, you are actually posing more of a danger by going slower than everyone else.

So if everyone else was stealing money from a broken ATM, you should too?

Because we ALL know that stealing money from an ATM is equivalent to driving at the safe speed of traffic!

NMA Highway Robbery Award

"The State of Connecticut was nominated and was in the hunt for first place. In 1995, Connecticut was given $750,000.00 by the federal government (yes, the same federal government that can't come up with a balanced budget) to intensify traffic enforcement over the summer holidays. And intensify enforcement they did! The Memorial Day campaign generated a 33% increase in speeding tickets, a 22% increase in DWI arrests, and a 51% increase in seat belt tickets. The only category that exceeded the percentage increase in traffic tickets was the increase in traffic accidents-a 66% increase. Now there's an example of our tax dollars at work!"

Hmm.. 66% increase in accidents. So much for safety, huh?

If you're speeding, you deserve to get caught. I see no reason to help you avoid the consequences of illegal actions.

Yes, because speeding is so dangerous. I suppose everyone who spits deserves to get a ticket as well.

LMAO @ Ultima. 🙂

every day i see radar traps in the same few spots. i guess local pigs aren't very creative. anyways, i make it a point to warn people whenever i can.

i always do,
i have a fuzz buster too (in my own car) so it works out good. When im not driving my own car, im happy when people warn me

I think people should be responsible for their own actions so if it's on the highway, no, I won't flash. I mean, if you're not driving aggresively and are going with the flow, you're still *pretty* safe... not immune, but you aren't giving the cop more reason to peg you than the others.

Now, if it's AM rush and I see this tool going 45 through a 25 on a residential street that's (a) used as a shortcut and (b) has three crosswalks, all of which are in front of elementary and junior high schools, I'll flash. Some people need to be reminded that little kids can't outrun speeding cars.

So, you DON'T warn the people that don't deserve to get stopped, but you DO warn the ones that need to be caught and have their licenses taken away? Good plan. I'm sure the person won't ever speed in a school zone after you've politely let him know there's a cop.

That's retarded.. and then again there are never cops around in places like that. Why? Not enough people drive dangerously like that.. so not enough $$$ for them.. so instead they go pick on people on the highway or places where the speed limit changes or is set way too low, etc..

all my experiences with getting pulled over were cops hiding behind a spot that JUST had a speed change, etc, so yes i would warn people because thats lame.

You should hear about some of the underhanded stuff that goes on between some of the insurance companies and the police in some areas. Awhile back up here in the NE, the giant insurance company, Geico, "donated" several brand new laser and radar guns to a few local police departments in a certain state. They gave the equipment to the departments free, but with the stipulation that they had to write so many tickets per month with the new equipment. The thinking here was that since the particular areas had a high amount of Geico insured drivers, the tickets that were written using the spiffy new radar and laser guns would hopefully be given to as many Geico customers as possible. The insurance company would make much more back than the speed monitoring equipment cost from the raising of the insurance premiums for the drivers that were ticketed. Also, they were able to write off much of the cost of the equipment anyway since it was a donation to local law enforcement.

So basically, the cops got some spiffy new equipment free, the insurance company got to write it off on their taxes, and collect much more money per year from their insured drivers that had received tickets. Nice little plan they had there huh?
